| Hey Serviceuser,
How are things going?
I'm five weeks post tx today. It has been a little up and down, but I think the peaks and valleys are getting smaller.
I hope you can say the same, hang in there!

| Don't doubt yourself, Serviceuser- detoxing off the drugs is going to be intense to a degree and if you've recently picked up a cold virus or other bug, your system is still a bit shaky, to say the least.
Try and focus on the fact your life was indeed, handed back to you- tomorrow is a new day, take each minute at a time and don't think you are going backwards, what you put your body through (tx) just takes time to recover from. Heck, I still have days I'm not 100% and I blame treatment on everything that isn't right, LOL!!!!!!

| Cheers you three, I'm hoping the jibbering and nervousness is starting to subside now. Thought I was loosing it for a wee while there!! Haha...
The thing is, I have a close relative who has in the past, experienced psycotic episodes and everytime i feel strange or talk about something other people might not understand etc I start to doubt myself. I think it could have partly been down to getting this bloody flu aswel. It's horrible, totaly wiped me out.
I'll see what next week brings!!

| Serviceuser, I am three weeks post tx. Thould befirst ten days I was so pumped I felt there was no after effects from going off tx. Since then I have had some sx return, I sort of feel like I'm still on tx some days. Some people are better at explaining it, Moocow and Lau always seem to get it right, listen well to them, and good luck.

| Lau is correct, Serviceuser- detoxing from the drugs isn't fun, your body and mind are finally starting to adjust to not being bombarded by chemicals that helped you fight the virus off. Even your natural "warrior" cells are finally getting to back off and physiologically speaking, things are going back to what your body thinks is "game over".
Eat as much healthy food as you can, whatever appeals to you- drink plenty of fluids and keep flushing your system out. If you are on antidepressants (which many of us did take during tx), stay on them a while till you do feel sure it's time to wean off those.
I was told once, during treatment, that as soon as I was done with it, the body goes through an elevation of sorts, cell counts rising, etc. Mentally, you're pumped up because you are "done" with that phase of your life- but, oddly enough, we seem to sometimes miss the routine we got used to, there is a weird, oddly placed comfort with having to take those drugs, do the injections that gave us a sense of fighting something in our bodies.
Things will get better, in many aspects- try to get out more, be around others, find a routine that is good for you- don't shut yourself off from the world and eat good food, build yourself back up physically as much as you can, the rest will fall into place.
Chemical treatments, for any serious disease, does indeed "change" us, it just takes time to start feeling better about it all, getting your mind wrapped around the fact you are going to be okay and tomorrow is a new day!

| Hi Mate,
it's normal - or at least it was for me. 1st month after treatment was a real pain, 4 weeks before I left the house - found it hard to communicate, dry mouth was a normal thing.
It all comes back to normal, just takes longer with some people - but normality will slowly, slowly return.
Your body is now getting rid of a lot of chemo which are foreign toxins to the body, it's a form of "cold turkey" in reality and your organs will ache, but you'll get there.
Don't worry - take your time, it WILL get better.
B cool,
Lau

| I don't know about anyone else but since about week 2 post tx i seem to be shattered, slightly nervous (maybe even slightly paranoid), i seem to get embarassed at the slightest thing, i'm not sleeping well and don't feel like myself at all. I'm even finding it hard to communicate clearly as my mouth and throat seem to get really dry, all of which I'm finding increasingly frustrating.
I'm confused by this , I was under the impression that these kind of things were sides of tx. Maybe it's just my body returning to normal, i don't know but it's driviing me crazy.
Is this normal or should I be alarmed by how I'm feeling??
If anyone else has had a similar experience or indeed has any advice I would be extremely grateful.
