Quinoa is my super food.
Quinoa has detoxifying properties, which helps the liver in its role of eliminating wastes from the body. It's vitamin B content can help keep the mind sharp, maintain brain volume and stabilize mood. Quinoa contains all 8 of the essential amino acids making it a complete protein. It is a source of plant-derived calcium and also contains impressive quantities of potassium, magnesium and zinc, minerals that are crucial for heart, nerve and muscle function. Quinoa is gluten-free.
Quinoa has a slightly crunchy and nutty flavor. Eat it as a breakfast food to provide long-lasting energy. Combined with vegetables or beans and it becomes high in vitamins, minerals and protein, while low in fat and calories.
Hello fellow members, thought might be interesting to ask our members for their personal observations on what food and drink seems to agree with their Liver and body in general. Also what food and drink causes irritation to their Liver or pain.
This little analysis is not for judging and criticizing your views but to find and learn more about how to consume food & drink that does not exacerbate our liver condition. Sometimes we can benefit from anothers insight. We all realize we have different tastes and preferences but every bit of food is processed by the liver and in my case sometimes I can feel irritation after eating certain foods.
Regarding the thread, Please only list one food or drink per post, but post as many times as you wish. The reason being its will give all an opportunity to contribute.
Here is my first contribution, don't feel you have to get this heavy on the data.
FOOD - Avocado / does not have to be organic
VIEWPOINT - A Liver Super food, my personal favorite high quality food that does not cause any problems with my liver or body. Can be prepared in lots of creative ways.
DATA -Avocados Nutrient Profile
1.One-fifth of a medium avocado(1 oz.) has 50 calories and contributes nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients, including 8% of the Daily Value (DV) for dietary fiber, 6% of the DV for folate, 4% of the DV for potassium and vitamins E and C; and 2% of the DV for iron per 1-oz. serving, along with 81 micrograms of the carotenoids lutein + zeaxanthin.
2.Avocados act as a nutrient booster by helping the body to better absorb fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha- and beta-carotene and lutein, from foods that are eaten with the fruit.
3.Avocados contain less than 1 g of sugar per 1-oz. serving (one- fifth of a medium avocado)
