Hi All,

It's wonderful to see some donations, I hope the forum continues to see them roll in.

This is a wonderful place, a lifeline to many here. I'm sure you'll all agree, please think about helping to fund the forum if you can and haven't already contributed. Donations help keep the forum ad free and running smoothly. In the past, admin and the moderators have had to fund a great deal of the costs. No matter how small, all contributions really help. smile

Thank You,

Dave

Tig,

I raided my penny jar, I think that was back in Jan or Feb this year, and made a miniscule contribution to this site that definitely deserves MUCH MORE support.

I went back, just now, to my penny jar, and boy, it didn't take long to roll up the pennies left there.

Another teensy tiny pitiful offering on it's way to you.

Unlike the monetary support (that I wish I could offer more of) I can freely extend my heartfelt thanks for all the hard work this site does for us.

It is appreciated. smile Canuck

Thanks vey much Dave.  Yes, I've found this forum very useful.

I finish my sof/vel/GS-9857 trial tomorrow night with my week 8/EOT VL to be taken on Monday.  It's been a breeze.  A few mild flu-like symptoms for the first few days and then nothing side-effects-wise.

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank you all for your continued support and the increasing membership shows me that we are reaching people around the globe. Every so often we like to send a friendly reminder to our members and guests that this forum is community funded. Your continued membership and the generous donations, no matter the size, keeps the forum running at it's best, without advertising pop ups and the like. It allows us several benefits such as photo avatars, file uploads, improved support services and features.

I know times are tough financially for many of us, and don't want anyone to feel compelled to    donate. The community funding link at the bottom of the Homepage is sometimes missed and I like to point it out for those that may be able to help keep the forum running as we've come to expect.

Thanks for your continued support, we look forward to the future and your SVR! On behalf of the Admin Team and all our fellow Warriors,

Tig

Been wanting to "help" but was waiting to see what was going on with the job situation as the week I started TX I also learned I was losing my job of 20 years. Well this week I got a verbal offer and will get written offer once background check/references come back. So I am relieved, excited and have gratitude today. 2016 will be great...Hep C check, job check. The support and knowledge I have found here is invaluable. Wish I could do more....

Happy New Year everyone

As a new member with Tx in my future (hopefully) I really appreciate this forum being here.

As a small token of my appreciation I made a visit to Paypal, it's not much but all I can afford right now.

Thanks for all you do,

Hi everyone,

I`m bringing this post up again as a gentle reminder that we do have an option to contribute to forum funds.  As a community funded forum we rely on the generous donations from our members to cover the costs of maintaining this Activeboard website, and which help to keep the forum running in its current form with all the features we have, and free from adverts.

Most of the contributions we receive are made by established members here and we realise that many of our newer members may not have noticed the `contribute` button, which is located right down at the bottom of the Home page and all the main forum pages, under where it says `Community Funding`.  We don't want anyone to feel pressured, we understand that not everyone is in a position to help out, but we also know that sometimes people like to be able to contribute.

Many thanks as always to everyone who has given support to the forum in this way on precious occasions.  I always like to thank people personally whenever possible but sometimes payments are made anonymously, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank those people too.

Any contribution you feel you would like to make would be very much appreciated, even if it`s only a small amount.

Thanks for taking the time to read this..  smile

Jill   (on behalf of the Admin team)

I`d just like to say a big thank-you to all our members who have generously contributed to forum funds over recent weeks and in the past, we really do appreciate your support in helping to meet our monthly running costs.

We also understand that not everyone is in a position to help out financially and that`s perfectly fine too.

Many thanks...Jill (on behalf of the Admin Team)

Hello to all forum Members and visitors, once every so often it's appropriate to explain the financial aspect of the forum. We get asked questions and members wonder about how they can contribute to its operating costs.  The following information will answer some of the questions.

This forum is a nonprofit entity initiative, with no members or owners being paid or reimbursed from funds that are contributed.

This forum is solely financed by voluntary contributions from its members and administration.

All monies collected in the form of contributions are used to pay the monthly expenses that the forum incurs including its set monthly forum fee and the variable volume surcharges.

The average monthly fee to keep the forum in its current unadvertised format is $50.00 USD  The forum is maintained by Activeboards (Sparklit) who control the pricing structure.

Making contributions is done by scrolling to the very bottom of the home page to the section called Community Funding, at the end of the paragraph the word contribute is underlined and is a hyperlink which if clicked sends you to the ActiveBoard Community Funding page_which provides instructions for facilitating a donation via PayPal or other means.

We thank you in advance for all your support both financial and more importantly for your input into the forum`s content. We appreciate and highly value every member`s contribution to forum discussions, as the intent and  purpose of the forum is to provide a place for people from around the earth to access an abode that makes them feel at home with others that have or had the same condition and that understand and empathizes with their concerns and struggles which in-turn can help educate them with caring insight.

If you can contributes even a small amount it would be helpful in sustaining the forum for months to come.

Thank you, the Administration team

P.S. Please note the previous posts to this topic by starting at the beginning of the thread.

Hi all,

Thank you to all the Members that have made donations after my plea. We are now able to carry on as is, for a bit longer. Remember that the Forum costs are ongoing, and we hate to have to plead for money every few months. For those that can afford it, a regular contribution would be most appreciated, no matter how much.

Again, thanks from the Admin Team.smile

It worked with Paypal for me too. However, one has to remember that Paypal takes fees. That's ok with sellers, but whith our forum, one can also choose Paypal "family/friends" option so our forum will not loose any money.

I forgot about that, but will be more careful next month.

Hi Tig, we removed that bit because it doesn`t always reflect accurately just how much will be actually needed.  Our monthly fees are based on how many people use the forum, whether that`s members or unregistered `guests`, and it fluctuates month by month.  We`ve been very busy lately, which is great of course and that`s why we`re here, but it pushes the costs up!

Thanks to all of you who have made contributions so far, we really appreciate it!  Every dollar counts!   smile

What happened to the donation needs and totals at the bottom of the Home page? That was helpful when following the contributions given and needed. It seems to have disappeared. I hope everyone takes the financial needs of the forum to heart, I'm sure you will. The importance of this forum and the help it provides are impossible to put a financial figure on. But if we don't do our best as members to support it, even a few dollars, we'll have to discover how to get by either without it or with a very reduced form of it. I hope that we can find a way to keep this excellent source of support and family like atmosphere alive and funded. Thanks!

Hi All,

We've had three donations since my post, so thank you very much to those members.

Forums such as ours may become less relevant in the future. Prior to the Sofosbuvir Trials, most members were on difficult, long treatments, and the rate of relapse was much higher. Side effects were a big issue, and this Forum was a place to come and discuss side effects and possible treatments, to rant and rave with others who understood what you were going through.  Friendships were made, and a strong bond between Members developed. 48 weeks was a common treatment length, but in a couple of years, 12 weeks may become the norm, with most achieving SVR.  Side effects with the DAA's (after Victrelis and Incivek) seem less of a problem. The result may be that Members are only on the Forum for a short time, and most will disappear after SVR.

In countries outside the USA, SOC for Geno 1's will remain Victrelis/Incivek triple for many years. These are the Members who derive most benefit from Forums. I include the Geno 3's, who still face an uncertain future. In short, I see the dynamics of this Forum changing over the next couple of years. Then, it may be appropriate to remove photo avatars, whiteboards etc. There are several other HepC Forums. I have looked at these from time to time, and they are more of a social/chat Forum which I certainly would not want. We often have previous members coming back with an update, and this cheers us all up, knowing that a normal life may be possible.

Please help keep the Forum as it is, at least for a couple of years, by making a donation, no matter how small. Thanks.

Hey y'all

Their is a saying that go's  " Wake up and smell the roses"

How much is the average $ cost to visit your Doctor?  To  fill a prescription drug?  To purchase one bag of groceries. To go out for dinner. To stop for your favorite coffee or tea , even to give a decent tip to a good waitress.

How much is good advice worth, a friendly pat on the back, an encouraging smile, or  having someone to express yourself to that can really relate and fully understand?

Hi Do,

Yes, monthly payments would be very welcome indeed, thanks.  In fact, small regular contributions from enough members would go a long way towards keeping this forum running in its current format, and also save us having to keep bringing the subject up.  We don`t like to keep badgering people about this, especially when so many of you are struggling with sx and other problems, but Malcolm is absolutely right in saying that if we don`t get enough regular support then we`ll have no choice but to consider other options.

This is your forum folks and we desperately want to keep it going for your benefit!  smile

Hi All,

The cost of running the Forum in it's present form has become an issue. Costs have increased and our monthly charge is determined by the Forum volume, with quite a large quarterly fee. We have many features on the Forum which add to the cost. These include having photo avatars, being able to post pics, documents and links in threads, whiteboards and PM's are just a few of the features that are not available on most other Forums. We think those features add to the quality and to the sense of personal contact and comfort we feel on this Forum. We have been able to keep the Forum Ad free, which I think everyone appreciates.

Forum volume has increased as our membership has increased, and we have an increasing number of 'Guests' who are counted in the Forum traffic. We appreciate all donations, no matter how small and realise that many suffer financial hardship while on treatment. However, over the last couple of years, the bulk of the Forum fees have been paid by one or two Members. We can try to reduce Forum costs by removing some features, but it would be great to keep it as it is. We will be looking at alternative hosting options, as our Forum is maintained by Activeboards (Sparklit), who run many similar Forums, but are quite expensive.

We ask that you consider a donation so we continue as is. Otherwise, some changes may have to be made. We would welcome any comments or suggestions.

Many thanks

Malcolm (mallani).. for the Admin Team
