Hi sxdan,

Perhaps you should check if it is to do with your new H.I.V meds, they could be the culprit?

It is good to hear you are one set of viruses down.

Wishing you the best :)

Hi,

Hep C starts out as an acute infection in all of us.  It is the same virus--Just many of us don't clear and it becomes chronic Hep C.

Thank you both for your comments. I should've mentioned it was acute HCV. I'm due to see my doctor next month so will mention it and ask for an ultrasound on the liver to rule out anything more sinister....

Hi,

So glad you have cleared your Hep C.  Gallbladder is in same region--you might get that checked.

Just one other comment--You might want to look at your contacts and activities during the period when you think you were exposed to the virus.  You do NOT want to get re-infected.  It is not like measles where you cannot get it again.  Hep C virus can remain active for a period of time outside the body. Air contact does not kill the virus.

I wish you the best.  You were very fortunate to clear.

Hi Dan, welcome!

Not an easy question to answer, I`m afraid!  Well, quite often people with Hep C do comment on having pain or discomfort in that area although it looks pretty conclusive that you no longer have an active infection.  Discomfort around the liver area with Hep C is often a symptom of the liver capsule being stretched due to inflammation as the liver itself doesn`t have any pain receptors.  But the fact that you had a spontaneous clearance suggests that you hadn`t had the virus long because if it`s going to happen it usually occurs during the first six months, the `acute` stage of infection, so the virus wouldn`t have had time to cause any damage to your liver and so it shouldn`t have taken long for any inflammation to recover.

There could be various reasons unconnected to Hep C why you`re feeling the discomfort....have you spoken to your doctor about it?

Hi all

Just after some advice or other people's experiences.  I found out I was HCV+ in May 2013, which my body cleared over the course of the rest of the year.  My last bloods in March 14 confirmed that I was undetectable and I had been for 6 months so I was effectively free from Hep C

I am still getting an uncomfortable feeling around my liver area - is this normal?  How long does the liver usually take to recover?

Many thanks
Dan

PS.  My HIV meds where changed my my Hep C doctor after being diagnosed so they shouldn't be an issue
