With Lemon Water you must use the real thing - organic lemons! Squeeze the juice from them and then make lemon juice ice cubes. This is a quick way to drop a cube in to warm water in the morning to start your day. In some juice recipes, I use parts of the skin and white part that also contains some great nutrients.

Thanks SF, having a huge Meyer lemon tree in the yard, I should have been drinking this for some time.  Guess I'll occasionally start replacing the coffee in the morning with heavy on the lemon green tea, and honey.  Been giving away bags of lemons to family, friends, and neighbors, but haven't been using much myself.  Time for a change.   Love my morning coffee so perhaps the lemon tea be an evening treat.  Thanks again.l

Ya, I had a blender accident today too ... blankstare

Mine is actually a smoothie maker which has a spigot on the side of the bowl.

I dismantle it after each use to wash and let it dry, well I open the spigot (spring loaded but one position stays open) to wash and leave it open to dry. Bad move. This has happened twice now, I put in greens, banana etc then pour in some liquid ... Instantly it's all over the counter and I'm trying to stave off the Riba Rage ... Second time I just laughed and shook my head ... but a few choice words rolled off my tongue prior to that, LOL. biggrin

I don't see why not smile. So I just mixed up my first batch of lemon with the water with the intention of heating it in the morning and adding some honey. Blenders are so much fun when you don't use them for awhile. I think the lemon did a good job of cleaning and freshening everywhere it sprayed as their seemed to be a minor leak. I will get another one tomorrow but I do have 1 1/2 glasses for the morning.

On a separate note, I tasted almond milk for the first time 5 minutes ago. It's not bad but I am guessing will work better in a smoothie. It does have a bit of an aftertaste by itself. Ok, off to the smoothie thread.

Matt,

How much Cayenne do you use in your lemon water?

Another tip from my dentist due to receding gumlines is lemons are very acidic so just swish your mouth with plain water after drinking the lemon juice to neutralize the ph.
Hope that helps!

Indeed it does (help), Thank You Dustbear.

I made up a batch of juices mixed together, fresh lemon using my juicer, 100% pasteurized orange and diet cranberry juice mixed with a little water that I keep in a gallon jug in the fridge now. Started a routine of drinking a glass first thing every morning and again before bed. I will be sure to rinse with fresh water after.

HeyO,

Made up a batch of fresh lemon juice last night (10 lemons). Made a bit over a pint of juice. No more plastic lemons.

Juicer worked great and I think I'll make some lemon bread with the pulp from the juicer.

I'm on a new bread kick lately, so far my favorite is making whole wheat baguettes. I like knowing just what's in the bread I eat, not much, ww flour, small amount of white flour. water and yeast with a little light olive oil brushed on for making the crust crunchy, that's it.

I've also got a bunch of dried cranberries that I think I'll use for making bread. Should be tasty.

This is my first alcohol free Christmas, I just put cranberry juice in my wine glass and enjoyed it. All in all I don't miss drinking much but it's a little more difficult during the holidays. Doin' fine though.

Merry Christmas,

Linux

Sounds like the ideal solution Tig ... best of both worlds.

I tend to use "Sensitive" tooth paste but that may not be the best while on the HCV meds (don't need the added chemicals), perhaps I'll switch to good ol' Arm & Hammer.

Good to know. I use baking soda toothpaste, so maybe I'm lucky and dodged both bullets! At my age and the condition of my teeth after two rounds of Interferon, I'm glad I still have some left. Which aren't many...

Thanks to All of you for the great feedback!

All great advice, Thank You.

I'll stick to the real thing, for sure. I just need to make it part of my routine.

I've been rinsing my mouth with water after drinking the lemon-water, I could even add a pinch or two of baking soda to counteract the acidity.

Wishing you all Well,

Linux

Actually...because the acid softens tooth enamel it is NOT recommended  to brush your teeth afterwards because the enamel will have a higher susceptibility to erosion. It's best to wait at least an hour...more time is better.

Hey Linuxter

Great to hear your doing the lemon and water habit, I have been doing 1/2 lemon and a couple drops Cayenne extract every morning for 7 years . I slice the half into 3 or 3 wedges and then core the wedges then put in mixer (vita mixer) with purified water and other minor ingredients (Cayenne, honey etc.) Drink it first thing upon waking.

The benefits have been well documented, clearing the GI tract from the previous day, alkalizing your body, and waking up your circulatory system with the cayenne.

Stick with the fresh lemons and remember it's takes more prep time to eat healthy taking the short cuts also short cuts your future health.

Matt

I agree with no to the plastic lemons however, I use Lakewood Pure Lemon. It's organic, Cold Pressed, 100% lemon juice. Pricey but worth the convenience for me.

Thanks Tig,

I've got one of those Jack Lalanne power juicers, I'll just make up batches and keep 'em in fridge.

The thing is a bit of an ordeal to use/ clean for individual servings but not bad for batches.

It's pretty good for vegie drinks too but I've found it's easier to just make smoothies for most stuff.

Thanx,

Linux

I know lemon water help the liver but I was wondering if I can just use RealLemon juice to add to water instead of having to squeeze fresh lemons, it's just so much easier to use and the easier it is, the more I'll drink.

RealLemon is made from concentrate, don't know if that makes a difference.

Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Linuxter
