 I think short term memory loss is my most obvious brain fog symptom. Some of it may be a result of long term alcohol / drug addiction but it's probably mostly due to cirrhosis. I take Xifaxin and Lactulose for hepatic encephalopathy which, according to my doctor, helps reduce brain fog. I'd hate to see myself if I didn't take these. I do seem to be doing a bit better since Harvoni EOT a month ago. Hopefully that will continue and is a good sign indicating the virus is gone.

Thanks Tig and Scott, Yes, well I do that often. I'll be out side in the BBQ area cooking, and determine that I need something from the garage. By the time I get to the garage, I must look silly because I just stand there trying to remember what it was that I went there for. Sometimes, I even have to go back to my cooking area to remember what it was that I needed.

Hey Mke,

Brain fog is something just about everyone with HCV and those on treatment seem to experience. For me there were extended periods when I had hours, if not days, of that feeling you get when you walk into a room and forget what you went there to do. It can happen on a moments notice. It came and went for me and more than once my wife would have to rescue me. She'd just say, "It's happening again" and lead me back to reality! It gets better in most cases, but one thing I can say, it's real.

That is exactly what it is. For example, yesterday, I was going around my place trying to do stuff, like clean. I would start in the bathroom and then stand there staring at what I need to do. Then kind of forget why I was in there and move onto something else.

Also, I can't concentrate on anything for more than a few seconds. My interests are down. Cant read a book, can't watch a tv show.

That is how it is for me anyway. It is very frustrating .

I hear brain fog alot, will someone explain what that term actually means. I am supposing it means when a person describes it, they mean that their concentration is somewhat impaired.  Or,  Maybe forgetful of things. Is this correct?
