To the new folks here and those who may be lurking

Greetings, we are glad you are here.

This morning I felt compelled to write this. I have been reading and noticed a few very old threads, some better than 10 years old have have been brought to the top via recent responses to them.

Generally this happens when a new person seeking information uses certain key search phrases.

From a historic standpoint the old posts are quite valuable, but the fact is if you are new to this, just diagnosed and quite confused with it all, the old posts are not going to lay out properly what you are facing.

Treatment options in 2013 for instance compared to present day is like comparing a Rotary Phone your grandpa used to the Smart Phones in use today.

The Pioneers before us had it MUCH harder in seeking SVR. The treatments were harsh and not always successful. The use of Ribavirin was much more prevalent and generally compounded with Interferon.

You can read some out and out frightening stories of treatment of that time period that if you are uninformed about the progress made since then may leave you feeling quite fearful, dejected and downright depressed. My first treatment was 13 pills a day that failed only to be replaced by a single pill a day that succeeded.

The old posts are where we have been but I assure you, they do not reflect of where you are today.

So when reading pay attention to the date of the post you are responding to. If the post is in the 2015 / 2016 time frame and in reference to DAA's that have been approved from roughly 2015 forward, the information is more likely relevant to your situation.

In closing, if recently diagnosed and you are looking into treatment plans and information on those that actually may apply to you just ask. Don't let The Internet nor even old posts here dissuade you from seeking treatment. Today is a whole different ball game.

Get your life back. Dragon Slaying ain't what it used to be. wink
