Hey Kat,

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the background, but sorry to hear about the auto immune problems. Interferon caused a little something (or larger) in all that took it. I know it caused several issues personally. The stories on our pages tell no lies. Those treatments were so harsh and the rates of success were dismal. We prevailed, but at a cost.

Good luck on your road to better health. I appreciate your sound advice to discuss auto immune possibilities with our doctor. We should always advise them of our SVR atatus and treatment history. It's important to have it all documented and entered in your patient care record with each doctor you have. I know you're well aware of that... Lupus and RA seem to be more common.

Take care and stay in touch.

Greetings.

Reminds me of Warriors sitting around a camp fire after a long and painful battle. We share stories of the quest to defeat The Dragon. Some like yours and other brave Pioneers have their moments of wondering if it was all worth it.

It was. Y'all are my Heroes.

I have no idea what lies ahead for me other than my that which my Faith teaches and to which I ascribe.

But I do know that I am part of the data gathering that leads to continuous improvement.

Salute!

JimmyK

C-Kat 1969 underwent the old Interferon treatment for a year ('03 -'04) and it was apparently successful despite although it having been physically rough. I appreciate Jimmy K's remarks regarding the changes that have improved the quality of treatment in the last few years.  My only regret is the secondary effects of the old Interferon. I just found out that I had labs taken in '07 which indicated a False Positive ANA (Autoimmune Disorder). My Dermatologist repeated the labs two weeks ago and they in conjunction with a Rash and other symptoms confirmed that I had developed Lupus secondary to Interferon treatment. I have not heard of any side effects related to the new treatment but for those of us who underwent the Old Treatment of greater than a decade ago please have yourself checked for Autoimmune Disorders. For those undergoing the new treatment Good Luck and may a Higher Power provide You Complete Recovery from Hepatitis C.
