Long ago ... 2015, while very pre-occupied learning EVERYTHING I possibly could about my new found HCV condition, I stumbled across a whole bunch of "archived" Advocate newsletters, they were good. I will never forget the one old issue I read where there was this very almost perplexed, exhausted, lonely tone from the writer - who sounded near burnt-out but steely dedicated - asking "where is everybody, come on folks, get vocal/active, look how good HIV folk have done for themselves, speak up, do something, get involved!) Lucky so many people have stick-with-it-ness. Many of the publications/info from this group of hardworking, never-give-up folk are excellent (in so many ways). It reminds me of some of the good folk around here (Tig)!, and all mods/admins. past and present, and all of us here, who form part of this nucleus of good. biggrin C.

Bimini! I remember you! Especially your kind face which I instantly recognized - I had to remind myself of your journey, I re-reviewed some of your old posts, and was amazed to find that I do not think I ever once wrote to you, although I read your posts some back then! My only excuse must have been that about the time I ever came here mid-2015, you were already well on your way, and I was still bogged and pre-occupied with myself! Nice you feel HCV was a long time ago ... your 1 year SVR must have been about Oct/or Nov 2017??

Agree Tig, we need some juicy updates from our "old" timers here (bimini and dharmabum and hsretrdr)! biggrin C.

Good to hear from you, Tim! There have been so many improvements and advances in care. It’s night and day better. I’m still thankful for Interferon, Ribavirin and Vic, but also thankful that nobody else will have to experience it...

Best to you in the New Year! Hope you check in soon smile

Hi Dave,

Good to hear from you, Brother! Hard to believe all of the advances in care since we first found out we were packing around some scaly beast in our livers. I’m dealing with the same arthritis problems, but they are blending in nicely with all my age related difficulties! Life would certainly have resulted in many more of them had we not stopped the virus.

The advocacy we encourage and strive for, is so important. Helping a friend, an educator or offering a shoulder to lean on, is what it’s all about...

- it’s a new day!

Thanks Tig.  That was an absolutely awesome thing to read, and yes, this is an awesome forum.  Thanks to you all for showing me the ropes before and during my Harvoni ride.  I'm still dealing with reactive arthritis, but the HCV has been gone for what seems like a long time.

You are too funny.  We could do that.  But, make sure you have your wits about you, 'cause these small people know how to get anything that they want.  They're ruthless, I tell 'ya!!!

Be well-

Joann

Only if you’ll explain it to my grand daughter! Maybe we can sit them down together and educate them about abstinence and theology careers! Ha, ha!

Right back atcha, Tig.  I know that I was a very frightened woman when I first found this community.

What I learned about HCV, I learned from all of you here.  You guys go where the doctors fear to tread!  So having said that, Tig, do you think you could speak with my grandson and explain to him where babies come from.  We're all chickens-

And, Happy New Year everyone!
