Hey Chevy,

Nice for you, even though that VL was done quite early (at about the 2 week mark?) versus maybe at the 4 week mark (due to the doc having to go away on vacation) - turns out to be a real bonus for you to have this early-early UND result! Such a moral booster to see the first UND, and to have that confirmation that all is working well (and fast!). biggrin

So, you've gone from 823,000 VL to ZERO! in just a short period of time - excellent response to these very good new Daa's alright, but as Tig reminds, do stay compliant, take your pill same time every day, lots of water, rest and good eating, and try not to over-exended yourself with too much strenuous work/activity. You will finished being cured of this virus in no time.

They must have taken your ALT/AST (LFT's) again along with this UND VL? - so, please do add your new LFT's and UND VL to your sig. line, they will look mighty fine there. wink

Good of you to post how you are feeling and all your updates along the way - it always helps others to know how someone else is doing. You are doing great! smile C.

WOW! That’s a testament to the effectiveness of these new drugs. While not an expectation, having an undetected result that quick, should tell everyone reading your good news, these drugs work and work well!

You have every reason to be happy with your progress and should expect a great outcome. Keep hydrating, stay compliant and good things will continue to come your way!

Hey good for you Chevy,

1) That you are coping so well, doing well (considering all), and (2) that you are paying attention to all these details - nobody looks after number one better than number one - and you are doing it well. Good for you. Sheesh, tractor work is the "easy" part!?, I can't imagine what kind energy you have to burn in the early part of the work day! Try to get enough good water, eats and rest, but i bet you ARE doing that.

Good your pre-treatment work up included an abd. U/S, but I am surprized they did not have at least some testing or discussion with you about your hepa/b immunity levels before you started you hepc treatment - they usually do. But, no matter, you and they are onto it now, and whatever needs to be done will be done.

I'm glad it's going pretty good ... still, try to take care of yourself really good, especially being that you are having to work at a job that sounds demanding.

Hope your lab results come back quick and with some news to the good! You will have to put the new lab results (as well as your old VL) into your sig line for dramatic comparison purposes! winksmile C.

So glad you are doing well Chevy,

10 days done already! - before you know it your 8 weeks of Harvoni will be done!

How is the "going to work", working out - feeling good enough?, as long as your energy is up enough and work is not draining you, fly at 'er. But do like 5 says, be vigilant about drinking enough water and getting your rest (and eat well!).

That's great that you keep tweeking your sig/line. smile

Hey, did you ever know what your pre-treatment VL was? Did you know whether you were a GT1a or a GT1b?  And, what did they tell you the plan was, about you getting labwork done when (LFT's and VL's) during your treatment?

Won't be too long before you will be able to start adding some UND's, and then some SVR's, to your sig line. wink

You never did elaborate if they assessed or immunized you for hep A/B before you started your Harvoni, and I was wondering if you got a pre-treatment abdominal ultrasound?

I am betting you will sail through all this just fine Chevy, and are going to be soooooo much the better for it! Later, C.

You might even try adding powdered electrolytes at half the recommended amount.  You're going through them with all the water, and the heat of summer.  A splash of juice, such as cranberry, can sweeten the deal.

I could never drink all of that water without adulterating it with flavoring. I learned that those little squirt bottles, like MIO (I used the store brand), were the answer. I found the sweet tea  was my go to flavor. What a huge difference that made. I used one of those jumbo size Terri’s tumblers (Duck Dynasty, it’s a beard thing, lol) and it kept the tea plenty cold. Whatever you can do to make hydrating more enjoyable, do it! It’s a good habit to get into...

Hi Chevy,

Bit late to the party here......Glad you found us and are doing so well. A few little irks along the way are well worth it, given the extremely high success rate with these wonderful DAA's . We are all so very lucky. Keep up the good work. I finished my treatment 2 weeks ago and look forward to SVR in 10 weeks time.

Hey Chevy,

Good job on the sig. line! smile That always helps make conversing easier, or, rather I should I say, it helps jog my ole failing memory easier.

The only thing you have to add to the sig line now is the "harvoni 8 weeks with start date and end date" then i won't have to keep looking that up!

Best of all will be the dates you get to add to your sig line, when you are UND and SVR!

It IS empowering being on these cutting edge drugs, knowing you will be free of this virus soon. Let that thought carry you through treatment (that and a tidal wave of water you will drink) - this should help keep the bad feelings away.

So, it's good to know you had a fibroscan done and that you have a low FScore (only 5.7 kPa's), that's great, as is your low Cap score of 217db - showing likely no fatty infiltration of your liver. Nice to know what your pre-treatment ALT/AST was.

Did you have to have your hepA&B immunity levels checked and have any immunization updated? Did they give you an abdominal ultrasound?

I'm glad it going OK right now. Very good indeed. Along with that lots of water, please do try to feed yourself healthy and get enough rest and sleep especially if you are busy working.

I am betting you will feel this 8 weeks goes by pretty quick.wink C.

Hey Chevy, Im an idiot! Below where I said a gallon is 64 ounces? NOPE! A gallon of water is 128 OUNCES.

Therefore - ROFL - Im an IDIOT!

Im fixing this problem as of today and hope it helps to actually DOUBLE my water intake. Wow, can I blame brain fog for this egregious error?!

I agree you should use a reusable container. There's already too much plastic! However, as a guide, allow me to use a plastic example, lol! This is for reference purposes only wink

Welcome Chevy!! Thats great you only have to do 8 weeks! I am on week 1 of a 12 week treatment on Epclusa. Drinking a gallon or more of water a day is definitely helping. It is not easy but you can do it. The trick is to have strategies to help achieve the goal. Heres what I do:

  1. Start early! I start right after my coffee in the morning, I chug a 25-oz bottle of pure britta water. Thats just 2 big glasses of water. Not that hard.
  2. Measure it into a bottle that you know the capacity of. I dont like plastic so I re-use glass fizzy water bottles. I have 3 of them so I know thats 75 oz right there. A gallon is 64 oz.
  3. Bring it with you wherever you go. And dont just sip it. Chug it down.
  4. Plan to use the bathroom everywhere you go. Even at the gas station and grocery store.

Thank you all so much much for being possitive and informative. I started my med time at 4pm Wednesday. Yesterday was a little rough but i did drink plenty almost a gallon (thats alotta h20). Not gonna lie i didnt pay much attention about the details in my bloodwork. I was just ready to be healthy. I will look over my paperwork tonight and hopefully be able to inform you all better on my condition. Took my second dose yesterday evening and i must admit, I feel alot less fuzzy headed this morning.

Welcome Chevy,

congratulations on starting your harvoni. It takes a while, but you will feel more healthy.

As Canuck said... the secret to a smooth treatment is to drink water... if you do that, get gentle exercise and try to eat well (I say that ...but I really craved and ate sugarwink)... so try to eat it should be smooth sailing to good health.

and of course you want to be very compliant about taking your meds at the same time every day... dont want to give the virus any med-free time to mutate.

Well, Chevy - that's good, you got a good start to your signature line - thanks for doing that, it really helps in ongoing conversations.

You have lots more room to add more pertinent info to that signature line.

Good to know details, such as as you being a GT1 (I was guessing you were a GT1) but it's always good to clarify these things, and it's good to know your treatment is going to be 56 days long (8 weeks), this is also informative, as you likely would have got a 12 week treatment length depending on what shape your liver was in and how high your viral load (VL) was.

It is possible that your VL is below 6 million, and that you are not cirrhotic (a lower Fscore), as your have been allowed to do a shorter course of Harvoni - 8 weeks.

That is a nice bonus, to be able to do a shorter course.

Being that you have felt some things that you think might be from these new drugs ... "kinda dizzy all day and a little tired" ... this is when we will all start telling you about the importance of drinking LOTS of water - very important to keep yourself WELL-watered, and really WELL-flushed, strive for a gallon of water a day, strive to achieve dilute colored urine, you can prevent things people think are sides just with this simple method of drinking ENOUGH water. Be sure to treat yourself very well, eat well, get enough rest.

I like what you said in your sig. line ... just trying to get healthy ... and you will!, an excellent start you have made to that end, good for you!

What were some of your pre-treatment labs and tests? You could include those results in your signature line (along with your 8 week Harvoni start and end date), ie. ...  Geno type 1, im 34 just trying to get healthy after some hard years. Dx ___. Pre-treatment ALT ___, AST ___, Fscore ___. Tx 8 weeks Harvoni SOT Aug 2 to EOT Sep 27, 2018?, ...

Yay, Day one done ... on to Day two! smile C.

Welcome here. Glad you have already started your Harvoni.

Like the others have said, have a read of some of the threads and topics here on the site, if you have any questions ... please do just fire away with them, we will all help and answer where we can, and it is helpful to share some of your details such as the results of any of your pre-teatment labs and tests (a signature line as Tig described).

Are you a GT 1?

Glad you arrived here. I hope you are drinking lots of water.  smile C.

Hey Chevy,

Welcome to the forum! Glad you’re here. Harvoni is a great treatment regimen, you’re fortunate to have this effective opportunity to decimate the beast we fondly call the Dragon.

I‘m glad you got started and ask that you fill in your signature line with some brief personal information. List your start date (yesterday) and anything pertinent. If you know your liver blood tests, ALT, AST, genotype and fibrosis stage, list them. It helps us when replying. You can see what most of us have put in ours to get an idea. There are instructions on how to do it in my signature.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We have a lot of friendly, knowledgeable and supportive friends here. They’ll be along to welcome you to our Dragon Slaying Club!

This intro didn't show up on the feed at the left of the screen, that's weird ..wonder why.?  Perhaps Tig can merge your introductions.

Good to meet you! And welcome to the forum, several folks here are on a variety of treatments, we're not exclusive to Harvoni but there is a thread dedicated to people on Harvoni.

Come on in and mosey around, there is lots of info and resources here not to mention some great people. Would you care to share a bit about you struggle with hep C?

See you soon, Iris
