PoloSilver,

Here's the way my doc presented:  Start by loading 10,000 per day for a week and go to maintenance of 1,000 daily. It sounds like you build it and then maintain it.  I'll stick with these numbers until my next check.  There can be things/combos that can block absorption.  Because it is a fat soluble supplement, I take it with food, especially something like avacado.  It really does make a difference to have your D level right. My insurance declines the tests but I stick with them anyway.

I do agree that sups are sometimes far better than our docs know, given that they are not trained in the area, but I also think we should take them only as needed and with caution.  I think we know ourselves and see results and distractions.  Test well and keep taking care.

Thanks all for the input.

5-- thanks for the info on the pockets...I've had to focus on a spot on the lower right in the back where the pocket was getting a bit deep, so appreciate the info..

C- my primary care doc told me to take 500mg of D per day, and then wrote on my chart 5000 mg of D per day! My vasc doc said 800 mg per day was good for me right now. My Vit D levels were 50 on the last check.

yes canuck, just a few spots at a time, and no gum disease but this reduces the pockets where food can hide this is the first dentist i've been to that does this......it was quite a surprise. So i guess not everyone is qualified to fry gums blankstare

it's always good to converse about sups.

i agree with the calcium, all sups make my hands swell , so my bod will have to figure it out.

hubs took the G&C and didn't like it; good to hear he might have done himself a favor not taking it.

every once in awhile i think of the k vit

my labs show i always have enough calcium; guess it's good to get a completer vitamin panel at least once  a year.

5,

Ah, i get it now, one tooth or section at a time for you, as you present yourself for required dental work, they utilize this laser method on those teeth sites.

Have you ever been told that you had distinct ongoing problematic gum disease, a hx of gum disease?

I have found the very same laser equipment and method IS being used up here in Canada BTW, but perhaps not highly widespread in use?, big city locations i found, apparently this system has been around since about '96?, but of course how long it took/takes for it to become popular/in use in a country or locale may be another thing.

My 5, we are turning your thread into a very experimental health one, from sups to procedures. wink

Polo,

I agree with you, we only actually need to use sups, when we actually need to use sups! heehee Sometimes we just are guessing we need them - I think a lot of people look at sups as hope in a bottle. The limited reading I did on arrhythmias? ... it was only the chondroitin component that was mentioned that had that suggested association to possible irregularities, I didn't read that association in regard to the glucosamine - but, who knows!

There are lots of studies on D use as well, and D use has become so increasingly popular - I like what your vas. doc said - you might sup D but just "eat" your calcium - sounds wise - if you read and heed "too much" info, you find you start to want to take more and more things, because ... the knee bone is connected to the hip bone and the hip bone is connected to the ... and so on, and so on ... so many interconnections! - one bit I did pay attention to was making sure I was not creating an imbalance (a deficit) by ignoring my mag and vit K levels in proportion to any increased  cal/D intake/supplementation, because we do need the mag/K (in combination with the cal/D)  to tell us where to lay the calcium down. How much D did your vas. doc suggest you could sup with?? Later, C.

Wow, I love reading all this information you folks! I am quite fascinated with the info on sups...Canuck --- good to stay away from some of those sups like chondroin and glucosamine...my dad actually had a light stroke several years ago due to afibrillation and the doc suspected the sup he was taking that had glucosamine and chondroin in it. Go lightly friends on the sups.

BTW,,,you may or may not recall that I recently went through seeing a vascular doc to check all my arteries, head to toe and one of the things they recommended was taking Vitamin D for joints. I have recently researched this a bit and Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. A friend of mine was having severe issues with pain in the knee, unable to walk very far...and she started taking Vitamin D and a year later she is pain free in the knee. My vascular doc recommended vitamin D and only get calcium in the diet. Simply sharing what I was told and know you need to do your own research...just putting out here.

5-1-18 --glad all went smooth with the tooth/teeth...hoorah!

that's how i found theanine; searching for cortisol reducing sups that wouldnt' make my face go nuts.

and phosphetidyserine ...that's on hold till i get used to theanine

my dentist does minor lasering , it's already ok. No spec. diet, i just chewed on the left side after a few hours. But nothing like vinegar

so be careful if you go searching for this.

.. and he only does it as he does the work.. so far it's once a year on the tooth/teeth he works on. it would be a bad idea to do the whole mouth at one time- that would def be an oatmeal diet and days without chewing or acid foods.

i'm so thankful that i do research on everything; and even my man has learned to look things up now

it's also very nice to enjoy your great research Canuck. thankyou

So, did you have to have ONLY liquids and really, really soft mushy foods only the first/second day (like I was reading)? Milkshakes, soups and such. Do you have to avoid regular hard solid chewing foods for a while, right after you have your gums lasered?? Maybe your lasering is not as "in-depth" as some of the pictorals/descriptions I was seeing in the website links? - in the links, they went all the way down inside your socket, lasering a whole complete layer of the inside socket off, all around inside, all the way to the base of the socket. Maybe in your procedure they are only lasering the very top/outer edges of your visible gums, maybe not so complete or deep, just part of the socket versus the entirety of the socket?

I am quite intrigued with the concept of lasering, I didn't have a chance today to do any sussing, so will look into it more next week/in future.

Very glad the discomfort is fading.

Ah the miracle of the human condition, our poor ole bodies and souls so tender and easily harmed, so painful life can be, and then, healing bits fall in to play, curious automatic background work occurring, defences sweeping over us to wash and fade the pains away.

Ya tori lumps are weird little things. Oh, and the luteolin, I first stumbled across it from another one of those websites claiming it can cure everything from MS to your dogs cancer (you know wink).

I am so pleased (so far so good) about you being able to take mag(s), well worth a good trial (I think) - one of the sups where there is less conflicting/divisive opinion about the potential helpfulness/or necessity of it.

Your milk thistle trial and research put me to mind of this ... In the past, I had been taking small amounts of glucosamine and chondroitin on a regular basis (never anything ever close to mega doses) but I took it really quite consistently, for a long time (I would guess it was mostly almost daily on average I was consuming  a dosing). After a long, long while i started to associate some cardiac arrhythmias/flutterings with taking it, I did some reading and of course found something on some website that said yup, and that maybe arrhythmias could happen (the condroitin being blamed), sos, I stopped the chondroitin completely and lo and behold I have had a lessening of these arrhythmias. So, it's hard to say if sups sometimes cause unwanted things, or help, or that they can do both!, and hard to know when we think we might be having sides or improvements from sups, whether it IS the fault of the sup OR maybe it is entirely some other factor or combination of factors at play. My arrhythmias could have easily, in part, had something to do with weight loss, being unfit, not being healthy, being stressed. All plausible. But for now chondroitin will be off my list for sometime, before i consider trialing it again perhaps just as an experiment. The joint discomfort I was taking the gluc and chondroit for (I think) are improving some anyway, perhaps just because of the newer healthier me or maybe in part because of some of the other sups I take - who knows! Main thing? ... cause no harm! wink C.

hi C,

by today my gums are ok again. i'm still using the rinse... it's a strong antibacterial that i applied to the area 2 x a day and now once a day.

no brushing of that gum for a few days. he only does the gums of the teeth he works on, so it's a small section-this was 3 teeth gums.

the first time i had it done i ate citrus...wow... i didn't realize, but it didn't hurt it, just stung a lot for a few.

he doesn't go too deep, just skims the top. hahahha

i never heard of Luteolin  till now. how did you find out about that one?

last nite i started the theanine before bedtime; i did sleep well and it's also supposed to have antihistamine properties ...... so here's hoping biggrinbiggrin

i never heard of a tori, that sounds weird .

yea, my immune system honed in on that little area and took over where the doc left off

oh tig, it breaks my heart to think that happened to you as a child cry.

are you a vet? i wonder if the VA  can help with this.

i hate having the dental work done but 1-3 hrs in the chair is the worst of it; and modern dentistry has come a long way biggrin

when my dentist was a kid he went to a dentist that didn't believe in novocaine  for kidsnoblankstare , so he is extra careful.

Teeth... Great when they’re your friends, evil when they’re against you! They told my parents that my mouth was too small for a full set of teeth and by adolescence they had pulled 8 permanent teeth. Add 4 wisdom teeth at age 19 and I was down 12. Now I have a handful left and they barely serve a purpose. Call me Squirrel... wink

That lasering thing sounds very good. Good versus the knife anyway. I’m sure it’s still quite the procedure to go through. My mouth is getting sore now! Just the thought of dentists makes my wallet and mouth hurt!

Oh yes, you, me, and polo intrigued with lasering now!  Thanks for the link/further info about the laser - i read that link and then went on further on my own to read many more different ones on the same subject, procedure.

I will research it some more (for my own possible purposes). I will have to find out if anyone up here does it much - you would think so, if it has been done down there for a while now. I'll let you know what i find out about possible availability up here.

So, how many of the teeth got lasered, in just this one trip? And what was this stuff they gave you that you have to put on your teeth at home - some kind of antibiotic liquid or cream or what?

Do they tell you to eat only liquids and soft/soft foods for a the first few days after all this dental work and lasering, and not to brush too much? (Some of the reading I was doing).

hm, who knows, maybe you got me onto lasering now too, and, I'm still gunna havta ask Iris how that special ionizing Vit c shower head is working out for her - that interested me too.

Very interesting research you did on the pros and cons of milk thistle, I am always finding that research can get down right frustrating with all the conflicting opinions, you can research something and find all kinds of compelling, seemingly common sense, reasonable, promising/hopeful sounding results from taking a supplement and if you keep researching it long enough you will find more and more conflicting data and arguments as to why the first stuff you read may not be completely valid! Talk about taking your supplements or reading with a grain of salt.

I have a handful of sups i like to take too, mostly, in the anti-inflammatory/anti-oxidant family of things - of most interest to me right now is my research (and a little personal experimentation) with luteolin and quercitin.

Hope the gums and jaw are not too sore tonight, and that you are getting a good rest/recoup/comfort at home. smile C.

Hey, that was interesting too! about your weirdo permanent teeth that did not exist for you - I am not sure I've heard of anyone like that before (missing teeth), other things i have known, like malformations, clefted things, baby teeth that come in with immediate enamel deficits, bony growths like "Tori's" (I have one of those!), but just "missing teeth" I haven't heard about. You are unique in many ways my dear.

i hear ya tig. tooth envy..me too. i look at teeth and always wonder if they had to have as much work as me.

i've been going to the dentist since childhood and still they are always in need of something.

i was born without a permanent tooth on the lower right, and upper left so i had to address these early in life

i still have to replace the upper left sometime next yearblankstare

i too wish they had an allowance for teeth cos for sure that is part of our health. working part time is the only way i keep up with all what's needed.

today they feel better but that whole area knows it was beat up pretty good.

Hey 5,

How‘s the chops today? I wish I could afford some new teeth. Medicare should cover that for us retired 60 somethings here in the US. I’ll never understand why that isn’t part of the deal. It’s when people have the most trouble and in my case, the least money! Treatment with Interferon, twice, damaged the supporting bone around some teeth. I’ve lost some of them and would really like to get a few implants, to fill in the voids. It would sure make chewing easier. We didn’t have today‘s advances in dental care back when I was a kid. It really was like torture. Novacaine doesn’t work well on me, so it was always painful. I find myself looking at a persons teeth before I look at their eyes. Strange huh? Tooth envy!

Anyhoo, I hope things are improving daily for you. smile

i do have ragweed etc. allergies. i also can only take echnacia a few days only if i really need it. >>>. allergies  cry

i didn't notice any of this when i had hcv, but i'm all about feeling better now and i don't need the MT like i did

C, they did all the prep work yesterday and put on a temp bridge biggrin , i go back after thanksgiving for the real one. i rather go a week longer to get a cpl extra hours of sleep. this temp one looks nice tho

that is a beautiful picture

the gums: remember when they used to actually cut the gums away for gum disease? it left ppl in pain for weeks. The laser takes a little off the top by the gum. it removes the flabby gums so they don't get diseased easily.

the first time he did it i worried he was out of line...now i've have a lot of gum done as he replaces sick crowns. this way the new crown has a new bed too.

we have been slowly replacing work done from 25-50yrs ago. This bridge replacement got rid of the cavity below it ... i am a happy camper today. just a little sore and hung over from the ibuprophen, but i am enjoying time off from work

here is some info on the gum lasering:

The Secret is Out: Lasers Can Save Your Teeth
  • Traditional Surgery. Regular or traditional periodontal surgery involves the use of a scalpel to cut and push back the gums to access the tooth root, root cleaning, bone shaping, and then stitching the gums back together at a lower level. ...

Hope they didn't get too carried away with rebuilding your bridge!

Image result for lovely bridges

Well, whatever they did - good for you, brave girl, for going and getting it done. Gotta take care of number one. Fast rule.

I am intrigued ... I give my dental people lots of money, but I have NEVER been given any laser-thingies - (hmpph, I want healthy gums too, big-time!), how often do they "laser" your gums? or is that just a one-time/one-off thing, and what kinda stuff is this stuff that you are supposed to put on your teeth (or gums) twice a day?? Are both these things just for anti-infective purposes (sorta). Just curious. I bet your choppers look marverlous, even if they don't feel nice at the moment, and will now work good for you for a very long time due to your investment in them and yourself. Good plan.

Sorry you are sore, I'm glad you took the Advil - you know the drill, if the discomfort gets worse or does not dissipate quickly over the next day or so, approach them for follow-up. : ) C.

Iris, Astercea! ya mean like as in "oopsie-daisy"! heeheehahahaha.

I believe Cinnamon Girl had some gastric issues with MT. Could be allergies, it is in the Asteraceae family, so if one has issue with those plants it would make a lot of sense.

Good to hear the dentist went well, yeah smile you'll be chewing it up real soon.

Hey 5,

I haven’t ever had side effects from MT, but your information is an eye opener for those that are experiencing issues such as yours.

Back in another life, I worked for the Postal Service and spent my day on my feet, standing and walking on that same concrete floor. It was hard on every part, feet, knees, hips and back. We were provided with very good anti-fatigue mats and I purchased shoes called Rocky Walkers. The combination almost eliminated the discomfort. Don’t stop looking for a solution.

5,

I count my lucky stars I don't have too many physical problems (yet) but when/if I do, I sure hope I have your attitude. You just put one foot in front of the other don't you.  It sure is good to keep an eye to what you can do.  That's the way to make the most of it, right?

Dolly Parton once said while her c-actors were complaining about the heat, "I've spent my whole life trying to get right here, so now that I'm here, I'm not going to complain about it."  Sounds like you!

Keep up the good work, you survivor, you.

my last d labs were before my harvoni and they were finally in a decent range after a cpl years of not being.... since i couldn't find a d3 i could take. so this plant based stuff is doing the trick....

b12 was recently, it was getting better than when it was way under in the spring.

iron was a little high but liver doc says that is all part of the disease so we'll just keep an eye on it and . tests show no anemia.

i'll do all the vitamin tests during reg. dr appt next year , it always shows i have plenty of calcium but i do have osteoporosis and unwilling to take meds or high doses of calcium cos it makes my hands and feet hurt cry even more

i do have arthritis so it would be natural for it to flare up now and then; i'm thankful that my legs ,wrists, hands and arms don't hurt anymore

i've been standing on my feet for 42yrs , and most of it 28-40hrs a week so it's def the standing [the floor is cement with a rug over it, and the mat hurts my back so i can't stand on that ]

i won't take pain meds for it it [presc or otc], so i just rest them and magnet them . when i excercise they hurt too but it's not debilitating as long as i rest them ,ice them, magnet them heat them.

once inawhile if i'm laying wrong i'll get that nerve pain in a toe or part of my foot but all i have to do is move and it stops right away.

i'm just so happy to be club zero and finally getting the celebratory bridge redone that these other things are minor in my over all life.

i have time to solve more mysteries now that i am cured.

lots of ppl in my business have pain in the feet, i wear old lady shoes too.

so i would say it is the soles at the ball of foot and toes all over, plus sides of the front of the foot. sometimes i get that nerve pain on top if my foot is too swollen for the shoes im in, i take them off

my arch and heels don't seem to suffer .

i took my mag C just now before bed cos i'm too tired/relaxed at work. it's great for my mood, not so much for energy. hope it helps me sleep better.

the time i took 2mags it kept me awakecry

i think this covers it for now.

i need to start rubbing my feet during work i thinkbiggrin

5,

So when you did have your D levels tested (before), was the D especially low?, how low was it?

Did they test any other vit levels, b's for instance, or do your iron or hgb? Did they find you anemic or low/lacking in anything?

And about your feet - can you describe what hurts exactly on your feet (tops/bottoms/deep inside or all over, every inch of your feet inside and out including skin, or is it mostly ankles that are involved, swelling etc. - or ... all of the above?). You said it felt mostly like muscles or soft tissues versus being "nerves" - so does that mean it just hurts all insdie the whole of your foot. You say it comes and goes, and worse while walking/working/standing ... so ... if being at home is better for your feet - does that mean maybe there is a shoe or footwear or foot "support" issue perhaps aggravating a pre-existing foot condition or foot weakness - maybe you should consult a podiatrist to see if he thinks you are wearing really ****ty shoes, or have really bad arches, or if he could shed any light on what he thinks might be wrong with your feet.

No burning, tingling, numbness or huge swelling of your feet or ankles - just pain/discomfort?? No one particular area is especially sore?

My sister would not listen to me, wore flat wimpy doll shoes with no support for decades, as she aged and got more and more foot pains, she finally went to a podiatrist, indications were she had bad arches, flattish feet, and her shoes were very bad for this - eventually she slowly got converted over to wearing no-nonsense ugly-ass support shoes, but he also found out she had congenital missing muscles in her feet (ha - guess I got the better end of the foot gene pool) - her teeny missing muscles also did not help things - who knew! (I always knew she was abnormal!).wink C.

We are going to have to keep tabs on how STL is going to make out with her renewed use of mag for her neuro-foot problems.

hi iris, my gut was like a cast iron gut for most of my life.

maybe the hcv had a big impact and in time all will calm down

i def do better when i stick to the white bread instead of wheat, so that's an easy exchange for me.

gluten free has too many other things in it that bloat me toocry so i stick with the white flat and pita bread that i only can get at our local safeway.

california lavash traditional flat bread , and one particular brand of pita that is shipped in [non of the big brands work too good for me, but mr.pita white pita bread from sara lee is ok too; just more sodium

just giving up the shred. wheat and having a smaller amount of avocado is helping. also had to stop the freeze dried aspergus for now but will add in another brand that never caused me probs.

for now i'm just cutting out what ever isn't helping till it gets alllll calmed down.

and potatoes and rice are hard on my gut, and so many things are hard on my skin.... it def keeps me on my toes to mix and match to what my body will tolerate on any given week cry

but that's ok as long as i can enjoy some foods ; and so glad i can eat sweet potato daily

Hey 5 ! I feel for ya, dental work is something I fear, I wish you the very best with that. I was wondering about the shred wheat thingy. Do you suppose it might be wheat altogether? Do people whose metabolism has been morphed by hep C have more difficulty processing wheat? My issue with it began somewhere around 1980, which was a couple years after I contracted the virus. I also wonder if it went GMO around that time?? It wasn't until about 4 0r 5 years ago that I cut it completely out  of my life when I started to feel better. It affected every aspect of digestion...heartburn, bloating, diarrhea, nauseous, belching, inflamed my joints, gave me serious headaches. Is this any of your symptoms? Try doing with out wheat for about a month and see if you get any relief. Keep in mind it's in everything, like soy sauce, canned soup, breaded things. It's been a challenge trying to find alternatives, and the ones that are out there are so freaking expensive, it really seems like a scam. Look at the difference between a slice of regular wheat bread and a gluten free one, half the size for twice the price.

confuseconfuse

Looks like the road of wellness is branching out for youbiggrin, nice to hear things are getting done, that must feel good. So, motivation returning? I'm encouraged by your journey. Smiles and hugs.

Iris

canuck, thankyou , that was an awesome vid

yes, we will wait till next year for more labs and Ultrasounds. we both have lots of labs thru the year, just that she hasn't tested my d3 awhile but that is ok since i don't take too much.

this visit was more of an interview for the insurance co and medicare and the dr's office. it makes sure that ppl are taking care of themselves and not slipping thru the cracks with medical issues.

oh yea, that was me... oatmeal and vinegar with aspergus... i started adding the shredded wheat in again just cos i missed it... but i do think it's rougher than other wheats , not sure why but i agree i feel better without it.

i do better with white bread or bleached .. my pita and flat bread are white in color; the wheat ones give me stomach aces cry

oh yea, it's trial and error for sure. but i was happy to take the mag citrate today before work and fewer gut issues.

the feets are still sore, it feels more like muscle and soft tissue rather than nerve pain. it's weird and comes and goes. i just shuffle around when they hurt at work- the standing doesn't help but i like my job. when i walk is when i notice it more; but i put my magnet socks on after work and all is well.

oh, i quit putting the vinegar in the oatmeal cos i want it to digest normally not stick in there and feel like it's doubling in size.. the babyfood sweet potato is better tasting too

so yea, every one is dif with digestive issues ; i'm luck that i have long periods of calm gut and try not to get to upset when it comes along again... i just look at what i'm doing different [um, shred. wheat blankstare]

Hey girl,

She's gettin things done - she's on a roll!

I liked your analogy ... catching that "harvi wave" and "riding it back to shore" ... wink ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PPdgnbybuo

Sometimes it is a different kind of roller coaster eh?

I am always perplexed at what people can or cannot eat or take when they have IBS, or Chrones/colitis or ulcerative colitis or any of those afflictions - it seems so variable! (what works for one just would never work for another).

So, if shredded wheat is "out", how is well-cooked porridge viewed by your doc - same thing?? Are all "cereals" out then?, what is it that is bad about the shredded wheat - just that the shredded wheat is too much high fibre?. confuse Maybe porridge might be a more acceptable cereal then, as it is supposed to have a nice division of soluble/insoluble fibre. If memory serves, was it not you who spoke of eating porridge regularly - but you did something ghastly to it, like mixing it with avocado or vinegar or something?? Maybe that was somebody else who tortured their porridge, I can't recall now.

Glad you put the dentist on your list of "to do's" - gotta keep the choppers in decent working order - we gotta a lot of chewing to do.

I hope you get to try a really good run (or various runs) at trialing the mag (or mags), I am most interested in seeing if you eventually end up getting some relief for your foot thing, because of finding the right type or doses of mag. Is the neuropathy-like foot symptoms just the same every day, same on an on-going basis, always there/constant, or does it go away sometimes?

Not long ago, you mentioned you were going to ask your family doc for testing like D levels and thyroid and maybe some other things - so, this appointment you just went to, was that the one where you were going to get all these lab reqs? Or, are you planning on waiting to do all this vitamin/thyroid levels you mentioned when you and your hubby will be going for your January hep-following testing? Later, C.

i had my wellness appointment today with the fam.doc's PA; she suggested i keep up the daily mag citrate and try cutting out the shredded wheat cry to improve my gut.

i've cut out the shred.wheat before and it helped..... i love it so much toocry.

but as long as i can have occasional cake and italian food i can live w/o the daily shredded wheat

so... i had some good instincts with that when i read it here that others' were enjoying the anti-inflam properties of mag. citrate

i've been so busy getting things done now that i'm actually feeling like getting them done.... not that i like "going" to get them done , just that i am motivated to do so

next week the bridge work hmm; i planned it way back in the spring cos i suspected i would be ready for it after riding harvi wave and back to shorebiggrin

Post Treatment supplement updates:

i read that drinking acv at meals could delay the emptying of the stomach... which could add to bloating , so i will sip that away from meal times

daily will take: milk thistle gel cap -1 . b12-50mcg. and of course the levo for thyroid.

2-3 times a week i will use:

the mag citrate to keep the innards calm and relaxed as well as to help with musculo-skeletal stuff. [between the oatmeal, sweetpotato, bananas , apples and shredded wheat  it all seems to keep me moving regular; just that when i get stressed my guts literally seems to get into a knot, (IBS). the mag will relax all that to keep things moving along in relaxed mode]

and the D3 at 2500 IU"S plant based to keep those levels up.

hi c,

zinc- about a month; lots of headaches lately; realized it's  on the days i take it 10 mg.

it's supposed to help the liver but not at the expense of my head.

so now just taking magnesium , milk thistle in the gel caps 1000 , b12 50mcg. d3 about 2- 3x a week at 2500 IU's.

Only the magnesium is new to my regiment aside from the zinc.

im taking the milk thistle & mag a cpl few hrs before bed to help with sleep; it seems to help

the others when i wake up an hr after the levo.

oh yea, i'm going slow and small with re-introducing and introducing.

5,

You said you were back on and/or trying to get back on quite a few sups - like ... "b12, D3 {plant based for guts sake},zinc orotate, milk thistle... and tomorrw mag.citrate".

You mentioned zinc was "out" (after only a short trial, of how long?), as you had a headache and think it was from the of the taking zinc?? Maybe I am not taking note of your timelines correctly - maybe you have been on the zinc for a while, or, how high a dose of the zinc did you take? Are you mega dosing with any of these sups? In what ways are you thinking the extra zinc would help you anyway? Just wondering.

Try to straighten me out on your timelines, ie. how long you have been taking each of the sups again, and, how much of each are you dosing yourself with, and how often??

Are you slowly introducing a tiny dose (of any sup), then slowly increasing the frequency and amount of these things you want to graduate to?? What are the minimum doses you start with, and then what are the maximums you ultimately want to end up taking? C.

5, yep just one honker of a stone but no gall bladder attacks so far (knock on wood:) Hoodie I despise the taste of vinegar so that is not an option for me (seriously I would throw up.)

Apple cider vinegar is good for controlling blood sugar as well I love the stuff!

I buy the organic Bragg's brand apple cider vinegar from Whole Foods -- oh my god so good!

lamassu, i add apple cider vinegar to a jug of water and sip it during the day.

acv is supposed to be good for the dissolving of gallstones.. so we'll see how it goes over the long haul.

i also added milk thistle back into my regimen now that i'm post tx almost 4 months. that has been touted as good for the liver and gallbladder;

but i did stop all supplements while on treatment and slowly have been adding them back since svr at 13weeks eot.

i'm not sure where you are post tx

Hey lamassu!

A 2.2 cm stone eh? Well, at least you got your jewel sized. We still don't know how many karats 5 is sporting yet, or even how many of these baubles she owns.  Maybe neither of you will ever have to do anything about them, except hoard that bag of pearls. The docs are into that (leaving well enough alone) so long as the organ is happy and silent about the situ, and the treasures create no symptoms.
I'm blabbing at you over on your other thread as well as here. wink C.

5, glad you are doing well. Hope you get the issues with your tootsies resolved. I have had several abdominal CT scans the past year and have one lovely 2.2 cm (!) gall stone with no pain. I am surprised my gastroenterologist has not recommended I go ahead and have my gall bladder removed. I'll talk it over with him again in a couple of weeks when I go in to discuss the results of the colonoscopy and endoscopy I just had done. I got a two for one special under propofol as he felt it was important to check for esophageal varices. The good news is I have none which surprised me. Nice to hear some good news. Just had a couple polyps removed and will get the biopsy results next visit but he said they were unremarkable. I have a good relationship with my liver doc so he will give me a lab order for 6 month post treatment viral load and LFTs even though he thinks SVR12 is enough. I just want it for peace of mind and as long as Medicare pays for it why not:)
