Hey everyone, I received a phone call yesterday on 3/12/12. My doctor said I can STOP tx. I was scheduled for 24 weeks at first but was still detectable at 4 weeks so the Dr. gave me the option to stop at 24 weeks or go an extra 12 weeks. I chose to go the extra 12 weeks. I started having problems with Hgb.(it went down to 7.1). He started Procrit and reduced ribavirin. The past couple of weeks my blood pressure started going sky high and I was having severe headaches. He said the Procrit could be causing it so he stopped it. The doctor said since I am a genotype 3 that stopping 2 weeks early should be fine. I have to go back in 3 months to get labs. I am so happy and will be so glad to get my energy and hair back. My last shot was supposed to be on 3/22/12. It's been hard but it will all be worth it when I get a SVR. I want to thank everyone on this forum for being here. It helps so much to know that others are fighting this battle and making it. With much love to all. Dianne

March 28 for me. Ten more shots!!!.
But I am starting feel better now, having finished Incivek 10 days ago. That crap took a LONG time to clear out of my system. I didn't realize how nasty it was making me feel. I'm still itching, but not quite so bad, and I just feel much better.
And yeah Anna, It's just starting to sink in, maybe no HepC forever more.
I didn't realize when I started, what a good thing that is. Maybe I was afraid to hope. Or maybe I had to put the work in for this. But I am so thankful now.
I wish the best for all of us going through this,

March 19 2012. My Hepatologist had me do one month lead in with peg riba then start Incevik so I get to do an extra four weeks for a total of 28 . That last 4 weeks is gonna be long. She wanted to make sure I could tolerate the SOC as in 2003 I quit re sides. But I guess a little more peg and riba can't hurt re SVR. 9 more shots to go and chomping at the bit to have it all end. PS Anemia seems slightly better today. Been on Riba 400 since Weds and Procrit 60,000 then too up from 40,000. My bones hurt for two days all over after the increased Procrit shot so guess means it is working.
We will all be off this crap eventually and cured and will go live happy wonderful livs free of Hep C. It realy is worth it to get that monster off from hanging above my head.

Well, my last shot was 10/18/2011. Tonight would usually be my shot night, but, instead, I had my 24 Week visit today! Geez, hard to believe I'm done, but so far, it sure looks like it.
I guess I'm not officially done until my labs come back, and then the 6 month check, but I did the triple therapy (Telaprevir) and the doc said that I have a 94% chance of SVR, based on being UND at week 4 and 8. (He has been treating Hep C patients for 20 years, and is a clinical researcher, so he's a good source for info).
He also said that if you are UND at week 24, then it's a 98% chance of SVR (telaprevir).
As far as getting over the meds, he said that most of his patients seem to feel about 50% improvement during the first 30 days, with 90% of the side effects gone at 90 days, and the remaining 10% of sides clear more gradually, but generally do resolve within 6 months.
I'm looking forward to getting back to normal. I can't believe I'm done. It seemed like such a long path 6 months ago, but after the first 2 weeks, it goes by quite a bit faster.
Thanks to all of you for sharing our experiences, and helping with mine, it is greatly appreciated, and I wish everyone tremendous success!
Regards,
David
