Hello!
I had really thick hair and during my tx I lost quite a bit and it started to worry me. It kept falling out after tx for about 3 months but it was definately less coming out. Now it is growing back in but it will take a while because of the length of my hair. I would say I went from verrrrry thick hair to normal hair. It was hard but if I stay undetected I think it was worth it. I have my 6 month post bloodwork the beginning of next month. I used nioxin shampoo and conditioner plus tried to cut back on the number of times I washed my hair each week. Hang in there it does end. :)
Mary
I was on tx for 32 weeks.

Hi Tanya, I finished tx a year ago, and although I did experience quite a lot of hair loss while on tx, which continued for a few weeks post tx, it has all grown back.
No need to worry, it is only a temporary inconvenience, although I know it can be alarming to see your hair falling out everywhere. I used to tie mine back too just to prevent it getting all over the floor - I didn`t have the energy to keep hoovering it all up!
One our members who had quite a lot of hair thinning chose to wear a very attractive wig when she went to work (she posted a photo on the forum), just for the last few weeks of her tx.
Hope that helps! Jill xx

Thank you for the note about the worst between 3rd and 4th month - I'm just past that stage now and hopeful that while will continue to fall, won't get too bad. Bought some shampoo and products from Rene Furterer which my hairdresser swears really helps and washing hair no more than 3x per week. No pony tails, etc. People say that don't notice a big difference but I see a lot coming out.

Tanya,
I am also on ribavirin and interferon. My hair started falling out bad about the 3rd month into tx. I am on week 34 of 36 (I had to do an x-tra 12 weeks because I was not clear of the virus at 4 weeks) I have lost over half of my hair but it is not falling out as bad now as it was during the 3rd and 4th month. I was so scared I was going to go bald. My hair is very thin but I don't have any bald spots. I stopped washing my hair as much and started wearing bandanna's so I wouldn't have to brush it as often. I also started taking Biotin. I bought silk pillow case's and braided my hair very loose at night to keep it from being all over the bed in the mornings. Everybody I've talked to said that our hair will grow back and some say that their's grew back thicker and healthier. I hope this helps. Dianne
