Hey and welcome! I was diagnosed at 18 along with my brother and mom....they think she got it from a blood transfusion and passed it along to us. My brother and I both went through treatment the next year (I was 19 and he was 16). Back then the treatment was interferon 3x per week and daily riba. My brother tried the pegalated when it came out but it still didn't help. We waited until this past year when we both started up again with the triple therapy (I was 31 when I started and he was 28).
I think you are right in that since we are younger we have a much better chance of not only getting through the treatment but also for liver re-generation....meaning that once the hep c is gone that we have lots of years ahead of us where the liver can grow back healthy and strong. :)
aloha,
Meghan

Hi! I was 22 when I went through treatment. Feel free to ask any questions. My doc actually said (like sunrise said) that the younger the bettter. Of course not at all would be the desired situation but it's at least nice to hear.
Good luck
Mike

Hi, I'm 24 and I just finished treatment 3 months ago. If you've got any questions I can help with just ask.

You are extremely lucky to catch it at such an early age Alley. Your chances of a very long and healthy life free of Hep C and any related symptoms are excellent. Good for you for treating now and getting this all behind you.

it's so nice to find people my age going through this too :) I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago... it was a fluke and a complete shock but now that I'm very informed I feel a lot better about it!

Hi everyone! I just joined this forum... wish I knew about it from day 1! I'm on my 21st week and going strong! With the Victrelis I only have 7 weeks left :) YAY!!
My question for you all - do you know anyone around my age (25) who also has Hep C or is also going through treatment?!?
My mom has it also and we are learning about a lot more people who have it but are all around her age or older (52 and ^) I love the support but would love to have someone my age to talk to :)
