I was the opposite. Expecting Pegasys, but got Pegintron. This was my only treatment, can't make a comparison, and didn't seem to make a difference. I don't pay much attention to the statistics. No such thing as 80% SVR!

Hi, I wouldn't worry. There have been many studies comparing the two. Findings vary, but the overall impression is that Pegasys Sx are a bit milder. SVR rates were said to be slightly higher with Pegasys. I don't think there's much in it.

Hi all,
I was prescribed Pegintron (alfa-2b) but when I was about to take my first shot, I realized the mail-order pharmacy had sent me Pegasys (alfa-2a) instead. I called doc and they said take the Pegasys but adjusted my dose slightly. The physician's asst said the side effects would be the same, but I'm wondering if there is a difference between the two drugs other than the pen/syringe, like is one more effective? I mean, they're different drugs, and the doctor prescribed the one for a reason, I would think.
I'm anxiety-ridden enough about starting treatment and having to push it back a week--now I'm worried that the Pegasys might not work as well or something. By the way I have genotype 2, if that makes a difference.
