Both my wife and I have partaked in 12 step programs for a combined 50 years. I thank you for explaining in a much better way then I have to my wife why the honey dew list grows and seems to to be cut back. My quick response when asked, when are you going to replace the ceiling in the basement recroom is Honey your next husband is not going to get a free ride, I have to leave him something to do and something for you to point out to him. I usually say this at a meeting, in public, or when going out the door for a week of fishing. Usually mindlessness sets in by the time I get back. Ha...... Bill
I love it! Will have to work that into conversation.

For all my fellow travelers, brothers and sisters, we are all trying to offer each other tips about getting through Hep_C treatment and living with the virus if that becomes the case. To further these endeavors I like to add another tool to your toolbox: Mindlessness !
What is Mindlessness? It is astate of inattentiveness, thoughtlessness, procrastination and failed attempts at perfectionism. Mindlessness is based on the Western philosophy of medication which requires no particular religious or cultural belief system. When practicing mindlessness it is best to use it as a skill set, such as in DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy).
Who needs Mindlessness?
Thousands of individuals are using Hepatitis C treatment drugs who might need mindlessness. New cases of mindlessness are being misdiagnosed as borderline personality, bi-polar depression and irrational thought disorder every month.
Do you need Mindlessness?
Are you bothered by attempting to do everyday things? Do you find yourself wishing that others would disappear into thin air? Are you find yourself growling at others?Do you have bursts of well intentioned thoughts followed with making total disasters out of simple interactions? If so, you may need Mindlessness.
Mindfulness utilizes the Wise Mind approach, in mindlessness we practice the lost your mind techniques. Making molehills into mountains or snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and finding ways to emotionally throw ourselves down our inner set of basement stairs.Thoughtlessness is a major tenet of MLN, verbalizing our inner thoughts without any filters, blurting out personal physical remarks ( Boy, do I got the runs, do I ever have a rash on my butt, and the all-time favorite shards of glass (enough said!).
Learning how to be thoughtless isnt an easily acquired skill, it means hours of sitting staring blankly at walls, but once mastered thoughtlessness becomes a big part of who we are. Just ask your friends and family have I become more mindless and thoughtless lately? And if so, you are well on your way to mastering Mindlessness.
There isnt much known of the benefits of Procrastination, it appears that many of the great psychological thinkers, never got around to writing much about it. But with MLN we can practice having well intentioned plans, start multiple projects to leave unfinished or for others to clean up for us. With procrastination we can actually not see or ignore piles of dirty dishes, laundry that needs to be washed or messes to clean up. When used with thoughtlessness we can learn to rely on others to take responsibly for our stuff.
Perfectionism isnt an action skill, it is the art of pointing out to others how they could improve or do things better. Organizing and being critical of the people and places around us.
