The Doc's usually follow protocalls, ie a Standard of Care (SOC). Especially with newer treatments. These are based on the pharmaceutical company trials, FDA approvals, etc. These are powerful drugs, and there isn't a whole lot of "ad-libbing" done.
If ya don't clear it this time, there are some VERY promising , Interferon free treatments, in clinical trials right now. One is PS 7977. A couple forum members have just completed the trials, and had very few side effects, and are UND. Many expect them to get approval in about 2 years.

Thanx again Brad.

Hiya Sal.
The " less than 43, but detected" seems to be the range where a lot of false positives occur.
We just had another of our members, JIme, scare us with a false positive. He turned out to be UND.
Your early, and consistent UND is a super good thing, and if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on you.
Don't think I could wait another 6 to 8 weeks though...
Best of luck to you,
Brad
Thanks Brad for the info my doc seems to think the same. But I think because GHI I think wont allow the viral load test less then 6 weeks from previous one. I will call GHI on Monday to see if I can take test sooner and be covered. As far as the wait I would like to be done of it, but since I was diagnosed in 99 did riba and interferon 2x and not with good results just lowered the viral load. After the incivek and side effects it had I was just hoping I wouldnt have to go through this again. I was just hoping for the best being it was undetectected from 3 1/2 weeks up until week 43, I thought maybe it worked. And now being that it was detected I guess I would be back to where I was before I never felt anything wrong just worried because I was stage 1. It was good hearing from someone else besides doctor telling me it may not be true results. Hey Brad let me ask you a question should he had left me on pegasys and riba longer after knowing this or is 48 weeks of it long enough. So if you and my doctor are right believe me thatI hope so . If not maybe something else down the road.

don't worry, there are several blood tests out there and they may have used a different one than before. In addition to the different types there are "quantatative" and "qualitative" and the two are like apples and oranges. Especially since you went 48 weeks you should be ok but get another blood test soon and compare the apples to apples and oranges to oranges :)

I was on incivek w/interferon and riba for 48 weeks 12 weeks with incivek. Since week 3 and1/2 less than 43 udetected all the way till last blood test maybe 8 weeks ago. Took blood test last week after 2 weeks of finishing therapy results less than 43 but detected. Doctor said lets wait for another blood test in 6-8 weeks maybe error could that be a realistic explanation. I have genotype one when found out in 1999. Been on interferon and ribavirin 2x just reduce viral load never eradicated it. I thought this time it would work any information greatly appreciated.
Hang in there Sal..fingers crossed all the best MJ
