Yes it gets much better. A bunch of the side fx, including the buttburn go away. I've still got some rash left but its very managble and tolerable, i guess its some leftover riba-rash, but its nothing like the incivek rash. Everything gets much better once the incivek ends. Plus you can loose the highfat eating schedule and thats sweet. Theres nothing like being able to set down and just eat a salad.
Mmm salad. I'm going to definitely get more active and loose this ridiculous weight I put on. I hope to get more energy back too after Incevek. Thanks, Brian
I said, "Mmm salad" in my head when I saw this post.
After reading some of the other posts, does drinking a ton of H2O help with the ghastly rash? I drink approx 90-120 oz/day. I am praying that my rash will not prevent me from finishing treatment (just started week 10 today). That is a 180 degree turn-around from last week when I wanted to quit. I have rash spots on my face as well as other parts of my body. Upper back, chest and outside elbows itch the worst! I try to ignore the itching and am partially successful. This dragon is a mean sucker! It pulls out all of the stops, doesn't it?
Water helps with all the side effects but, don't over hydrate.
my doc told m to half my body weight and that;s how much water i needed to drink.

I put up 4-5 kilos in the first 4 weeks of Incivek. Reckon mixing fat with carbos was the worst thing to do. Trying to alternate more now in favor of cream, cheese etc instead of ice-cream and fatty spreads. Not enough energy to excersize and burn it. Though believe that drinking a lot - my average about 3 litres a day - retains some liquid in your system that adds up another kilo or so. Cheers!

Hey Gate, a little off topic, but about the weight...
I started Tx at 170 lbs, and after the Incivek, was 189 lbs. Having to eat lots of fat, and then having little oxygen (RBC's and hemo) to burn it with pretty much sucks. I didn't gain any more when I stopped the Icivek, but didn't start losing any until the first weeks after Tx.
I'm now holding at 160 lbs, and feel great. I think feeling so sickly for so long really gave me the incentive to go out and live. The avatar is my first roped climb, done this weekend.
Good luck, and hang in there. This is a tough thing we do, but I believe it can change us for the better.
Best wishes,
Brad

I would have gone insane without Triamcinolone Acetonide cream! The RIBA has brought rash back but not As torturing as when on Invicek. Yet he has made me aware to moisturizer And use my cream to stop it From spreading. I mixed almond and coconut oil as lotion today. Skin so dry. I now wake up 2-3 times a night to Go to bathroom and drink about 16 ozs water throughout The night. Sleeping like a baby these days And learning to accept the lounging lifestyle. As of December I can say just 4 more months to go! Yay! Thankful I have been able to endure tx. Prayers are powerful after all! Hang in my Hep C friends! JoAnne

Hi I soak in a Luke warm shower bath with Euciderm calming cleanser. I then use Aveeno mild super moisturizer. After I dry I use Rx 2.5 hydrocortisone on the hot spots. In the day I take Rx Hydroxzine 10 mg. at night I take 25mg. Hydroxzine and Xanax so not to loose my mind. Water is a all day thing.
I'm going to moisturize more. Last night was me and a ruler to itch my back it felt so good. The rash is thousands of raise red dots filled with water. If the dots all come together I'm done with incivek.per MD.

Update, the rash has held firm on about 3/4 of my body. The Hydoxzine 25 mg. has held it to a dried out sunburn type feeling. I'm trying to do everything I can to go the distance.
MD called yesterday and informed me they would have to take me off of incivek and remain on Rib.& Peg. If the rash progresses any further.
I can't wait to loose the incivek part. From what I've been hearing here is that it gets better after it?
Thanks,Brian

i really hope you can make it the full 12 weeks but i understand how nasty the Incivek rash can be. I had it too, but i dont think mine was as bad as yours sounds, and it drove me absolutly crazy. The longer you can make it the better the chances of SVR are, but my Dr. told me he had a few patients that quit Incivek before week 8 and were still able to acheive SVR, so there's still hope if you are forced to stop. I'm sure you've tried eveything under the sun so I dont have any advice to offer you, but I do want to tell you "GOOD LUCK!" Incivek can be a life saver and we all deserve it.

Hey, Brian. The doctor will decide what you should do. But a few folks who had to quit Incivek just carried on with peg/riba for a little longer than normal. They seem to be doing OK. Right now, don't worry about that. Just do everything in your power to get that rash under control. Hydrate all day. Keep medicine on the rash always. Avoid hot water in baths and showers. We're pulling for ya'. Alan

Gatekeep, I feel your pain(itch rather), when I was on tx I used Benadryl 50mg, which helped the itch & the sleep. It's just been since post tx that I've used Xanax, helps with "quality-of-life".
Water, lots of water makes a difference. Shoot for a gallon-a-day, but try to at least drink 3 liters/3quarts or more(the better).
For some ugly, itchy psoriasis-looking spots(which I still have) I use Triamcinolone acetonide.
-just a reminder: every time you scratch...the itch will come back exponentially.
