Yes! Bacon and avocado on a crescent roll with real butter. That'll bring a smile to your face every time.

I was on Victrelis, so no fat requirement, but typically eat low carb and not-so-low fat. Eggs and greek yogurt were part of my daily diet during tx. Both went down easy.

Not impossible, but difficult to have 20 gs of fat and low carb. I googled "high fat low carb" and I came across a few web sites that may help you> http://www.eatlowcarbhighfat.com/ and http://www.lowcarbshighfat.com/ Maybe you can get a few meal ideas from there.
I was getting constipated at times during tx and my doctor said it was fine for me to take a few doses of miralax to get regular again. I would obviously have your husband ask his doctor before taking anything, because things may be different for him.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have looked through the site using the search function, but the problem has been finding things that are both low-carb and high fat. For instance, the cookies would be way too high carb (though they sound yummy!). I had tried suggesting the olive oil and mayo options, but he didn't like the idea. I re-introduced them, and now he says he'll try mayo. I have a feeling that will be how this works - I'll have to keep re-suggesting food periodically as he gets sick of his old options, and he'll probably be willing to try more in the future. I might also just try mixing almod milk and olive oil like JoAnneh suggested and just giving it to him - I bet it's a lot better than he's imagining!
He really liked the idea of steak ceasar salad and guacamole. Also I never thought to look for high fat salad dressing - we've been cooking low carb and low fat for so long that this is a really weird shift of thinking for us!
His nurse said to stay away from nuts for constipation - does anyone know if this means he should stay away from peanut butter, too?
He just had a fasting blood draw on Tuesday, so hopefully that will turn out ok.

Since treatment is just beginning, he will be getting lots of labs. Probably every two weeks for general bloods and every four weeks for viral load. Get him to skip breakfast and get an early appointment for the draws so he can watch his sugar. For fatty snacks, Malcolm is right, we have a ton of historical data on the subject here. Some of us have gotten success with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil along with a normal snack. I used Keebler's Pecan Sandies (four of them 16g. Fat) and peanut butter treats of all kinds. Have a look at the humble avocado. It can be useful, too. It is a real shame the way this treatment abuses the human alimentary canal. Best of luck and tell him we are pulling for him. I did the Incivek triple and will be happy to share my experiences as he progresses. Alan

Hi and welcome, Jenna. I presume hubby is Genotype 1 and is on Incivek. If you click on the ' Search' button and type in ' fat' , you will gets lots of suggestions from forum members. For the constipation, make sure hubby is drinking enough water- at least 3 litres a day. Try to stick to the low carb diet, as Insulin Resistance is a problem in HCV and can affect treatment. Get his fasting blood sugar done whenever possible, and ask your Doc if you can get a fasting Insulin level. Good luck with his treatment- ask any questions. Cheers.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, but I've been reading for a while and getting lots of useful information. I've read quite a few high fat options here, but I was hoping someone might have suggestions for low carb meals without cheese that are 20 g of fat. My husband just started treatment last Thursday, and has become very constipated. Many of his 20g of fat meals were high on cheese, and his nurse felt this was part of the problem (apparently nuts and cheese cause constipation?). However he is very sensitive to carbs - he was pre-diabetic earlier this year but got his blood sugar back in the normal range through a low- carb diet. When I made him a bagel with cream cheese this morning as his nurse had suggested (apparently cream cheese doesn't count) he said he felt it was too carby and that that made him feel poorly.
Does anyone have suggestions for low carb meals with 20 g of fat and no cheese?
Thank you!

Fatty Sources= meat, dairy, nuts, oils, and avocados. So if we eliminate dairy and nuts, the list definitely gets shorter.
Guacamole, burgers sausage, salads with low carb, high fat dressings.
Steak caesar salad is one of my favorites
Burger with ranch dressing on it.
Fruit smoothie with a little olive oil blended into it
Soy smoothie- add egg or oil for fat, flavor with unsweetened cocoa and add stevia (organic zero calorie sweetener)
Eggs & bacon
