I'm fairly new to tx and this site. Having my 7th shot tonight (doing the triple). Welcome to the forum, so much knowledge and support on the forum. I seem to have been lucky with pretty minimal sx, fatigue, some aches in legs, headaches. Itchiness not to bad, fire in the hole (think this is the incivo). My first shot was the worse. Seems like most of us are experiencing some sx.......so enjoy this relative free sx time. I try to drink plenty of fluids, water, cranberry cordial. Ginger tea can help with nausia. Lots of good ideas on the 20g fat thread (this can be tough, particuarly the 7am incivo dose for me). Best of luck with your tx, stay in touch, Adam

This time around I do my shot after work on Saturday nights around midnight. I start to feel the effects around 20 hours later with Mondays and Tuesday being the worst. Very fluey, brain fog. I call it my "zombie state". There is no way I can go to work like that. Wednesday are a little better but I make it to work but it is a rough day. By Thursday I feel almost normal again. My big thing now is the short of breath and activity intolerance. My H/H went from 15/45 to 10/30 in 4 weeks. I'm a big guy and I sure do feel it. I can't wait for the Incevick to be done tho, that stuff just hurts.

My sx have been tolerable for the most part. On my really bad days, I feel like I have the flu with a bad hangover. Most days I can function but I do listen to my body and rest when I need to. The first three weeks after taking my interferon shot, I would get bad headaches the next day. Since this went on for 3 weeks, I thought "This is how it's going to be." But then the headaches stopped . The thing I can count on with tx is you can never count on things being the same day after day. It's a tough journey, but the end will justify the means. It's an interesting ride to say the least. I also try not to think to far ahead (like when my treatment will stop). I try to take one day at a time and sometimes, one hour at a time. I hope that you are one of the 20% who will not have any sx. If that it happens, I will not be jealous of you but VERY happy!

I'm assuming you've just started treatment recently? It is a big variance from person to person. It's also an additive effect as the drugs build up in your system. You'll also find the poor people with the most side effects will be the most vocal on this board to commiserate and to trade info on the best way of dealing with them. I hope you are side effect free as much as possible but you may find they surface further along in treatment. Some of the warriors here have experienced the "What is this week's new side effect to keep it interesting by adding to the pile." Hopefully that will never be you. Most people struggle with the Interferon with a couple of tough days a week. I was in the minority who tolerate the Interferon reaaly well. However the Incivek and Riba definitely beat me down for sure. Your symptoms sound like Interferon for sure. Riba can cause anemia, depression, and surliness but it will take a little while to kick in. incivek's greatest evil is back end burning. Make sure you eat your 20g of fat with (actually before) your dose. This slows it's passage and increases absorbtion which results in more to fight the dragon and less to burn upon exit. Ammodium helps to do the same if necessary. All the best, dave

Hi Linda, side effects (Sx) vary enormously from person to person. Young people generally have an easier time that us old fogies. The head cold, flu like symptoms are from the Peg. injection, and is usually worse for the 24 or 48 hrs after injection. I'm sure you have your meds sorted out with the 7-9 hrs between Incivek doses (with 20 gms fat), and the twice daily Ribavirin. Cherish this time when you are relatively Sx free- it probably won't last. Cheers.

Hello everyone,
Is it normal not to have any major side effects while on the following meds (incivek, riba and interferon)? The only side effects that I had was some achyness in my legs, and I felt like I had a really bad head cold. That was on the same day that I took my shot. I am just hoping that I am taking my new meds right? Does anyone have any advice?
