Cathy, I have a feeling that the standard tx duration for gen 2 is 24 weeks, unless you have cirrhosis in which case you need to do 48 wks, and I`m not sure how important the 4 wk result is apart from being an indication of how well you are responding. I agree with Malcolm that you need to follow your doctor`s advice on this.
Best of luck! Jill xx

Hi Cathy, Your question about Rx length for Geno 2's is difficult to answer. There are many references to increased SVR with an RVR (undet. at 4 weeks), but treatment duration is hardly mentioned. It seems that you need to be undet. at 12 weeks to continue Rx, but increasing treatment length from 24 weeks to 48 weeks doesn't get a mention. Be guided by your doc. Cheers.

Cathy, The discusions around 4 weeks is for Gen 1 on Incivik. Gen 1 on Vivtrelis is the same, exept 8 weeks. As a Gen 2 on SOC, don't know if he 4 week labs are that significant. Just don't know. Others may.

By the way, for those who are about to start with Incivek, draw your doctor's attention to an intake schedule. Ask a question.
Recent studies showed that 2 x 3 pills a day with 12 hours interval as effective as 3 x 2 pills with 8 hours interval.
For all us, fat lovers, who are already on 8 hours protocol, it would have been a huge relief.
I still have 7 weeks to go and decided not to change it half way. But its worth asking a question for those who gonna start.

Hello Julie,
Welcome.. there have been many discussions on this topic.. It depends on your lab and what test or method they are using.. If you go to the top of the page you can click on "Search " and type in UND and read up on some of the other threads about this subject. There are Guru's on this site who can explain it better than I.
Funny thing no matter where you live it seem there are some discrepancies in testing.
I have really bad brain fog ... not sure which method, if you where less than a 1000 it was considered UND??
All the best.. don't be discouraged hang in there.. peace and love MJ
Am I understanding that if you are det at 4 weeks you automatically have to do 48. My vl was 130 at 4 weeks. The dr. never mentioned doing more than 24.
Yup!

I hear you, it is a bummer. I did 48 weeks in 99 and then 18 months in 2006.
Just keep pulling for UND at 8 or 12 weeks. Cross the other bridges when you get to them.

I emailed my Rn this morning and received a reply. My ?? was that since my vl at week 4 was 98 and not und, am I still in the running for a 24 course of treatment. Instead of finishing in April, I will now finish in Sept. Bummed out = yes. Devastated = no. But bummed out does = yes.
