Thanks Shep! I actually just got my test results back and my thyroid is normal! YEAH! What I have learned from my research is that Sudafed and mess up your thyroid (temporarily) and I had taken Sudafed before my last test. So just for everyone else to know.....don't take Sudafed before you take a thyroid test!!!!!

Hi DJ Please be careful with the thyroid issue. I am hypothyroid and have been for about 17 years. They watched it closely during tx because it was of the things that can be disrupted during tx. And mine did--went very high and the doctors had to adjust the meds several times. My endocronoligst actually added a second medicine. It all worked to get thyroid under control during tx--but afterward have been through several months of getting re-adjusted. But the good news is--I did complete tx and so far so good! Best of luck to you Shep

During my 28th week hyperthyroidism was detected.
They were thinking of asking me to leave the program but I really wanted to complete treatment.
I had the thyroid treament, had to drink some 'radioactive iodine stuff'. Just was in today to see how
the 'stuff' worked and no more hyperthyroidism!
I do remember before I started my first week of treatment that is was noted my thyroid may be a
little off but no one worried about but the longer treatment was going, thyroid began to worsen.
Just my little experience.

Has anyone has a high number on their thyroid test before they started treatment? And if so, were you still able to start treatment?
This may be an issue for me (I am waiting for my test results). Last summer I had a high number, but a month later I was normal. Last month I had a high number again, so I retested today and am waiting for the results. I am 'suspecting' that Sudafed may be the problem on the two test with high numbers. Today I have not had Sudafed for 2 weeks so if it is high today then that isn't what is causing it.
But I am wondering....if my number is high, does that mean no treatment? Or do they treat the thyroid and then let you start. If my test is good today I am suppose to be able to start next month (with the new doctor I went to see today, she is more in favor of treatment than the one I just left who thought waiting was a better idea).
