Yep sharks from way back when the lake was still attached to the ocean. We didn't make it to San Juan del Sur this trip. Four stops in 12 days was already enough. We'll have to save that one for next time.

Wow, I'm jealous. We were there a few years ago. That lake is so big you can't see the other side. It's like being at the ocean. A taxi driver that drove us around the southern part of the lake told us that the lake has the only fresh water sharks on earth.
Have you been to San Juan Del Sur yet?

AH, Dave...this sounds fun...no rapture of the deep though! So cool...have fun...been a real long time for us, as my husbands father owned two scuba diving schools. We used to really enjoy going out on the boat. (got real sea-sick...until you jump in the water!) I never did dive though..too afraid of sharks, they say you can't panic, ...Ha! I would be totally panicing! I would just snorkle around the boat and wait for everyone to come back. That was like a hundred years ago, his father died of liver cancer in 1987.
So glad you are doing this, you really needed that healing the mind part of this treatment. Hope you and Jen are able to have some snuggle time on the beach, Blessed be this life
Much love to you two...Iris

No pics today. I just went scuba diving and the camera doesn't work underwater. But I was remarkably efficient with my air consumption though. My humorous assumption is that having culled all the weaker red blood cells out my body last year, I now must have superior oxygen processing powers. Best, Dave

I don't fish, but 80% of the economy in this area is fishing. We're out in then Corn Islands now; they actually export fish to the U.S. from here.

Greetings my friends. This is Concepcion volcano on Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua. It is
1600 meters however the top third is in clouds most of the time so most peeps dont go to the top. We hiked to the lookout point at 1000 meters which is the bump on the slope on the left.
Six months ago that would have required 500 stops to catch my breath. Yes there indeed is life after treatment. All the best, Dave
You deserve this break, my friend, and it is so exciting to see the beautiful shots of the area.
Alan

Greetings again my dart shooting friends. We toured the Masaya volcano park which as you can see is an active volcano. Not to worry; you can see by the second picture that safety precautions are in place in case of the need for a quick getaway, ha. The hilight of this tour was getting to go 100 yards into an old lava tube. Thousands and thousands of bats. Just amazing. (Jen wasn't nearly as thrilled).

This is Grenada on the coast of Lake Nicaragua. We stayed here for three days before moving on to Ometepe. I'm going to be uploading photos one at a time as the Internet service at the lodge I'm at is fairly slow. This is one of the many beautiful churches.
