Hi Bill,
Although grapefruit juice is supposed to be good for the liver, there are some problems with the protease inhibitors. It's hard to make sense of the waffle, but one of the grapefruit compounds is hard to metabolise when the protease site is blocked.
Metformin is OK. Some Type 2 diabetics here are taking it with triple Rx, but check with your doc.

I have been told by the Mayo Clinic, where I'm participating in the BMS QUAD Clinical Trial, that grapefruit juice and products containing grapefruit as well as Seville oranges should not be consumed while taking protease inhibitors and/or NS5A protein inhibitors.

I don't know either, but I have heard that grapefruit juice is not good to take with a lot of medicines, so it may be safer to not use it. You should ask your doctor about it to know for sure, or call the drug companies.
