my hepatologists said to hold off from supplements until first blood test...to leave "some room" for supplements to help if there is need (like vitamin B12), she said i can take vitamin E tho and i can continue drinking green tea. Haven't asked about cannabis (there was 2 more people in the room).

Hi Malcolm,
as i mentioned, this is not my idea...My mate in the USA is taking desmodium drops for years for his lungs and it works really well for him. He noticed it's advertised for controlling liver enzymes too and asked would it help me (on tx or after), i will consult with my doctor re using it. I do not want to use it on my own. Was just curious does anyone has any experience with it regarding it's effects on liver.
all the best

Hi Zlikster,
I'm pretty sure no Forum Members have, or will use, DA drops. Here's a link.
Hi greenqueen, thanks for links, but there is no mention of Desmodium anywhere (on this forum too)...was just curious has anyone tried em (w or w/o tx)?
cheers!

Hi Zlikster,
There is some info on herbs and supplements in the link below:
well i drink grea teen regulary, so no need for extract i heard Vitamin D and B12 are proven to help? whats the story with B-13 (maybe u meant B12?)
From herbal supplements i was taking Liv.52 before tx (as recommended by my infektologist, but i think it's bogus, same as milk thistle)...I take Vitamin C (500mg), Vitamin E, B complex (maybe to swap it with B12), of course no iron in any of supplements. Was taking Vitamin D+Calcium citrate cause of my bone fracture prior to treatment. Might now just use Vitamin D.
of course i will consult with my hepatologist on Thu re desmodium drops. Maybe i can use em post treatmant. As for vitamin supplements, seems C, E, B12, D are safe to use?

Most Dr.'s advise to not take any supplements while on Tx. The exceptions are multi-vitamin without iron and vitamins D-3 and B-13. I was taking milk thistle and green tea extract before Tx but was advised to stop.

there are no antiviral substances in this plant extract, but apparently it helps liver in lowering liver enzymes. Anyone using it as a supplement to peg+riba?
friend is sending me few bottles (from http://www.wholeworldbotanicals.com/herbal_desmodium.html) he is taking it for years for his lungs (asthma) and it helps him a lot, but beside that it's usage is also for liver detox.
any thoughts?
thanks

Sorry, meant B-12
If high iron is a problem then vitamin c should be avoided when eating foods with iron. Vitamin c is needed for optimal absorption of iron. I try to eat fruits at different times than breads so not too much iron is absorbed. I have high ferritin levels and don't really knowif it will make any difference.
