Well it's difficult to say unless you already tried both, since everyone reacts differently to each. I'm doing triple with telaprevir, and from my experience and from other's comments
Main disadvantages of telaprevir over boceprevir: - You have to take it with at least 20 grams of fat (can be nasty when you have nausea) - Can give you a nasty rash - Can give you anorectal itching and burning
Main advantages of telaprevir over boceprevir: - You only have to take it the first 12 weeks - Anemia is not as bad as with boceprevir, so it's recommended to patients that already have underling anemia problems.
I guess (in my opinion) you can say that triple tx with telaprevir is like jumping into a pool of freezing water, so at first it can be a bit overwhelming, but then on week 13 you switch to a much nicer warmer pool (I felt soooo much better right after finishing telaprevir). Boceprevir seems more like starting out in the warm pool that gradually gets colder until you reach a minimum and stays like that until ending therapy.
good luck with tx !
I AGREE...JUMP ON THE FREZZING POOL!!

Nick thanks for the reply. I love your comparison and I can actually visualise myself in that pool!!!
I think the thing that puts me of telepravir is the rash as last time on double therapy I experienced some problems with rash and itching. But the shorter duration appeals as well!

Well hello everyone I'm back again!! Ok I went for my appointment with the nurse yesterday and I have been given start dates. Now the problem is when I went in I thought I would be going for triple therapy with boceprivir and not be given a choice, as this is what my consultant had said to me back in July. But when I went in the nurse has left the decision with me.
The more I think about it the more stressed and anxious I feel as I don't want to make the wrong decision. I must say the nurse seemed more in favour of telepravir but I also felt that was because she kept saying the boceprivir schedule is more complicated for them, with the 4 week lead in. I need to inform them of my decision by Monday.
Now my question is, I know they are both similar but which one do I choose?
If you were given the decision what would you go for?
I AGREE...JUMP ON THE FREZZING POOL!!
