Not sure where you're located, but in Virginia, that's a no-no. I agree about contacting local employee commission office and finding out details and protection provided by your state a/o gov't.
Praying it "works" out for you.

So many of the these work related policies vary from state to state. I would contact an office of the starte government immediately and begin the slow, aggravating journey through the system. It could very well be you were terminated improperly.

I was diagnosed with hepatitis c in November 2011 after having been hospitalized for a second collapsed lung. The first time resulted in blood transfusions. Sometime after my diagnosis I opened up to my immediate supervisor and told him of my condition. He was very supportive, which is not what I expected. In April and May of last year (2012) we were short-handed and I was working everyday for weeks without a day off and as a result of my condition and being over-worked I missed 4 consecutive days of work due to anxiety and depression. I went in and discussed this with my District Manager. I even disclosed to him in writing of my condition. I was subsequently let go, and feel that it really wasn't from my being absent since I hadn't missed any time in the 3 years of employment except for the mentioned hospitalization. I have since been having a hard time keeping a job due to my condition. I keep going through depression and having anxiety attacks, which is something that was happening leading up to my issue this past summer. I just really want to know if I have any recourse or if you know of any steps that I can take from here on out?
