My husband has the toxic waste dump taste in his mouth. He says that Mento's seem to help a bit but overall it's just something he has had to learn to live with (he hates it!)
He has developped a chronic, never ending cough. He was just miserable, and could not sleep until we did the following:
Being diligent about taking his asthma medication: pulmicort and ventolin
We spent the money and got a really good humidifier for our bedroom.
Benyln cough syrup (daytime and nighttime)
Nasal mist spray has helped with dry nose (honestly, out of everything, one of his biggest complaints is his dry nose).

Hi Isymicek,
My husband is on Victrelis and is on Week 33. Probably about 15 or so weeks ago, he had a bad chesty cough which went on for quite some time. I was convinced he had a chest infection because it sounded so awful whenever he coughed - really bad in fact. We had the specialist check it (twice.....because I was hard to convince). Anyway, they said that because Victrelis dries you out from the inside out, the body produces extra saliva/phlem/mucus to compensate. Because of this over compensation in the chest area, you can get a nasty cough which is effectively trying to 'move' the extra mucus - a bit of a vicious cycle unfortunately.
My husband does drink adequate water amounts and this bad cough did eventually subside. I hope this happens for you too. All the best. Caroline

Ya it's a real crappy taste for sure. I get a heavy Flem that develops in the lower mouth upper throat as well as a thick Flem in the lungs that I have to hack up once or twice during the day. My RBC dropped to 1.2 so they drop me down to 1000 units of Riba and tested me 4 weeks later and I was still at 1.2. As you can imagine how great I flet for those 8 weeks. The doctor decided to put me on Eprex every week and by the second week I stated to feel human again. That's a big plus at least. no energy and very fatigued still and now I dry heave once a week if I do to much of anything. no real rash as I'm om the Victralis, dry itchy skin though. Hang in and I hope you the best.

This tx is very hard. My white blood cell count at 2.0 and had to drag myself out of bed this am. Only on week 9 with victrelis. Any suggestions for energy and nagging cough?

Idk what metallic tastes like this tastes like butthole haha. I had diareah the first day. I had to literally squeeze my button cheeks together and run into my mom's house because luckily it was close by

I am not on the triple treatment (since I have Genotype 3) so haven't had too much of this, but I remember during my research someone posting that they kept wintergreen lifesavers around all the time for relief from that metallic taste. Maybe that will help a little. I am sure it is annoying.

Not only does it effect my taste but smell and gives me diahriah, I think since starting the Vict I have lost 25 lbs and a hug muscel mass since I am bushed. For the taste I will use the scotch mints they seem to help, mostly eating Ensure, Gator Aid Yogart and cravings. like I woke up at 4 am and wanted krapps and then when it was time for meds 6 am had a cup of yogart, glass of orange juice and back to bed. Specialist for kiddneys said that magnissium tablets would help taste but have not tried as already taking 25 pills a day. Diareha seems to come and go but when it is present its much to contend with

Yea, i take them at 8am, 3pm, 11pm. they say anytime 7-9 hours apart and eat 100 calorie or more snack. If you ever burb them up it's horrible.

I think everyone gets this, like sucking on tin-foil or pennys. Somedays hardly notice it, other days it just awful.

metallic? Didn't happen to me on Incivek but I've heard of this. Previouslyduring one of my failed attempts all I could eat were foods with blue cheese on them. Eggs, meat, toast, pasta. This time I'm stuck on hard pretzels.
