I take mine at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM per dr. orders and drug company rep recommendations. This was also suggested to help with sleep.
Oh, thanks! That helps.

Hi Deb, the advice I had when I did tx was to aim to space out my riba dose 12 hrs apart, ideally, but that I could have an hour or so leeway either side. I agree with what Malcolm said, and I`m sure you`d be fine taking it at 11am and 9pm.
I know it`s frustrating for you coping with the `dizziness` you`re feeling, but to be honest sometimes it`s best to just `go with the flow` while you`re on tx, and if you`re not up to driving then please let someone else do it... I don`t like the thought of you taking risks! Concentrating on getting through your tx comes first... it won`t last forever! Take care, Jill

Thanks Jill. I did back up my night dose by 1 hour, and it helped this morning. I think I will try 11:00am and 10:00pm. That just gives me a little bit more time for errands in the morning. We have 3 cars and 4 drivers, and I certainly don't want to wreck a car for many reasons! So I am trying to be careful. It certainly is nice to have an hour or two of non-dizziness just to help me remember what 'normal' feels like. haha And I really do like being able to run some errands on my own. But after my morning 11:00am dose of Ribaviran I hang up the keys for the rest of the day. I will see how this one hour difference does for me. It did feel better this morning. But I won't change it any more than that...just that 1 hour makes a big difference for me, it may not sound like much, but in that hour I can go to the grocery store or bank or whatever other errand I need and that one hour helps me feel so much better mentally....just being able to do something on my own. But I understand....on treatment, I have to just do what I need to do to kick this thing. So I won't change the time any more than this one hour. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for all of the advice. I wish I didn't have this dizzy feeling. They said it would get better, but this week it has been bad. It may also be what you guys refer to as 'brain fog'. Like yesterday I did go to the store in the morning before taking my morning dose and on the way home I was at a 4 way stop and I need to turn left but I forgot to put on my turn signal and almost turned in front of the other car who went straight thinking I was going straight too. I can't believe I did that! It scared me to death.

Hi Deb,
Ribavirin has a long half-life. Taking it 12 hours apart sounds good to keep constant blood levels. I took mine at 7am and 7pm.
Others have been told morning and afternoon. It's probably best to keep the same times each day, but 11am and 9pm would not be a problem.

I will try to keep it even. At least I have about 90 minutes each morning to run errands. I have two adult daughters in college living at home and my husband, so with three other drivers in the house I can send them to do things if I need. I just like being able to get out and about. But so far, I have had about 90 every morning that I feel 'non-dizzy' enough to drive. Hope I don't lose that! haha

Hey Deb,
evenly spaced doses , of course, not sure if you lengthen the time in-between how effective the medication will be..as other have posted from med insert, you may want to discuss with your Doctor. It makes me dizzy and somewhere I read it can mess with your blood sugar and of course cause anemia.. With that said , I have the time released pills.. I try to eat small meals throughout the day, like toast and coffee early am , later some kind of fruit , lite lunch, in the late afternoon a yogurt and some healthy trail mix to keep my blood sugar balanced this seem to help the "dizziness" .. all the best MJ

Riba takes several weeks to clear the system so its ok to vary the dosing time some. My Dr. told me to take the p.m. dose early in the afternoon to avoid some of the sleep problems associated with it.

Deb,
I was prescribed 1200mg a day, either 3 x 2 pills or 2 x 3 pills, after meals.
In the beginning of the treatment, it was after breakfast and after dinner, 3 pills each.
Couple of hours here or there does not matter.
Now I take Riba 3 times a day, approx 8-9am, 2pm and 7pm, which is acceptable as well.
Riba may interferes with sleep, thats why I prefer not to make it too late and went for smaller portions.

Hi DJ,
Even though I've been off tx since August, my Ribavirin prescription is still listed in my medicines & prescriptions list. The dosing instructions state:
Antiviral medications work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, use it at the same times each day.
hope this helps.

Does anyone know if the Ribavirin has to be taken 12 hours apart? Or is it OK to take it like 10 hours then 14 hours apart?
I ask because it makes me dizzy, so I take it at 11:00 am after running errands and doing stuff around the house, and then I am dizzy until around 9:00pm (then I can put laundry away and do dishes and stuff) and I take it again at 11:00pm.
This morning I noticed I was still dizzy at 8:00am, but was OK by 9:30am (and I did have orange juice thining maybe it was low blood sugar but it wasn't that).
So now I would like to take my evening Ribaviran at 9:00 pm but still take the morning dose at 11:00 am. Then I should have a couple more hours of 'non dizzy' time to get things done.
Would that be OK....or does it really need to be 12 hours apart?
Thanks
