I am only diagnosed recently, after the inital shock you realise you're still the same person, just you have a squatter! Don't worry, they give you time to digest, read and let you decide what you want to do with lots of information.
A lot of people have had it many years unknowingly as it is a slow progressive disease. It is a good time to get diagnosed with so many new treatments in clinical trials and people are getting better results than ever.
It is a good thing to get results from a specialist, as the general Doctor does not have specialist knowledge of this disease.
Wishing you a good week.

I've just chosen a specialist .... She seems to be the best choice. I make the appointment in the morning. Things are moving far too slow.

Hi Ouchie, well at least you know what you`re dealing with now and can start moving forward. Have you got a date to see the specialist yet? I`m sure he will tell you all you need to know and talk you through your treatment options, depending on your genotype. You might find it helpful to make a list of questions you want to ask, it`s easy to forget once you`re there.
Best of luck, keep us posted. ~ Jill

My confirmation test was positive - my primary dr doesn't want to give me the viral load information etc but wants to send me to a specialist to have it explained to me. I understand it is high enough to start therapy. I'm hopping all this body ache and joint pain and being tired etc will go away after therapy. Thank god I have insurance - this officially sucks.
