My doctor isn't all that up on treatment regimes. I'll be the first patient in his practice to use Incivek, others have used Victrellis. Long story short, I've seen 4 doctors in the last 8 months, and this is the first one that I trust, who actually called me to see how I am feeling, etc. So, I'll stick with them, even if they don't have all the information.
I think I'll try to arrange it around our meals so as not to add more food to the equation. Thanks for the info. I appreciate your wise counsel.
Peace, Oral

Hi Oral,
Much has been written about fatty foods with Ribavirin. Supposedly bioavailablility is increased with fat, but other articles claim fat slows the absorption of Riba. I don't think it matters much. I did 48 weeks of Victrelis triple, and specifically asked my doc about fat with Riba. He said a light meal or snack was all that was required. By all means have fat if you like, but it probably makes little difference. Cheers.

High fat foods with ribaviran is a new one to me. If anything you might need something on your stomach justĀ to keep it settled. The incivek is a different story though. At least 20gm of fat 30 minutes is a must. Slightly more won't hurt, but less will(insert butt joke here) and less does affect the absorption of it. I took my late day dose of ribiviran with my afternoon incivek. My Dr. said it would be ok because of the long half-life of ribiviran, I mainly altered my dosing time due to sleep problems. You might want to call your Dr or nurse just to check it out, everyone has different opinions about dose times.

Thanks for the advice. I was reading a book to my wife last night, "Triple Therapy for Hepatitis C: Strategies and Coping Tips for the Caregiver", written by Ann Mills and Fleury Mills. In that book multiple times it is mentioned that her husband took Ribavirin with high fat foods, which was new information to me but based on Google search, not to the rest of the world. If it is recommended to take it with fat, can I take at least one dosage (I will take 800mg in am, 600mg in evening) with Incivek, with the fat I am taking for that med??? For instance, our plan is to take Incivek at 4:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 8:30 pm. It would be nice if I can combine the meds, but what matters most is doing whatever will give me a better chance at SVR. Thanks again for your help.

Oral Congrats on starting your Tx, you have the right attitude regarding the forum. Caring about others is a great way to exit our own personal bubble of worries.
Also 12stepguy gives you fantastic advice on where he puts his focus, on the other brothers & sisters and there efforts to make it through the treatment.
Also he has found a personal way (with humor) to divert his personal day to day tribulations.
We all have different ways to do this, but the common denominator is the people on the forum.
Keep your focus on the end
Matt

Thanks for your inputs. I'll start them morning and take my shot in the evening. Should be interesting!
Thanks also for reminding me to focus on something other than my own side effects, which is harder than it sounds.
Both of y'all are short timers. Glad to see you've still got your humor.
Peace,
Oral

I started Incivek and Riba the same morning I started my injections. I do mine on Thursday nights, in the begining this allowed me to still feel pretty good on Fridays, but it kicked in on Sat & Sun. Now as I'm further done the road, it kicks in Friday am and lasts till Thursday. Pretty much feeling crappy on and off the full week. But it really did get little better after the Incivek, but worse around 38 weeks (at least this is how it has been for me).
Welcome aboard. My take on doing this is to focus less on the physical side of HepC or the drugs and try to keep focused on the people that post here. For me being silly and humorous sometimes is what gets me through the day. Getting and giving cyber hugs is where it is at.

I'm very thankful for this forum. It has good information, and has allowed me to care about others a little more than myself, which is a good thing. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I start treatment on Friday. Our plan (my wife is great at scheduling, nourishing and caring) is to take my first shot on Friday evening about 9:30. Do I take the Incivek and Riba starting Friday morning, Friday evening, or wait until Saturday morning to start those additional meds??
I could ask my doctor, but he confessed he refers those needing treatment to another doctor, and that in itself is a long story. He's willing to watch my treatment as long as I compile the data and fill out the spreadsheets with results from bloodwork, which is no problem for us.
Thanks for your help and care.
