cheers Ronna, my hepa advised me if i could avoid antihistamines, so i did...got a respro mask which helps me a lot! This will be my first year w/o antihistamines or corticosteroids in 30 years...so far so good, air con/ionizer on, i do not open windows (that kinda sux, but what can u do), i do not get out without a mask...to be honest this is much better than taking antihistamines next year i might do the same (isolation from allergens)...
cheers

During January and February my husband was on Benadryl almost daily for asthma/cough that was making life miserable for him, especially at night. The benadryl helped ALOT and his doctor said it was ok to take benadryl while on treatment.

i'll try to avoid getting out without mask and in general avoiding pollen as much as i can, sparing my liver of metabolising additional chemicals beside ones already taking for hcv but if it gets tough (asthmatic attacks) i will have to use antihistamins obviously.
re Benadryl (and majority of antihistamines) "As diphenhydramine is extensively metabolized by the liver, caution should be exercised when giving the drug to individuals with hepatic impairment." i don't wanna push liver too hard while on tx ;/ i am pretty strict regarding intake of stuff that can be burden on liver (goal is F0/A0 <kPa for july!)
regardingh rashes (just from Riba in my case), i just put Excipial lotion, helps...
cheers

hey zlikster, this is my third time on tx over the years. in 06 i was on peg & riba and i got a rash so bad the doctor stop tx for awhile. when i started triple therapy in 3/1/13 with in a week the rash was back. I spoke to my doctor over the phone and with his approval i started taking benadril. To my suprise the rash with help of creams and benadril are held back. It help me with southeast air and make tx more tolerable.

Hi Zlikster, I think you`ll be ok with antihistamine pills, some of our members have mentioned taking them to help control the itching. Best to check with your doctor anyway. You have enough to cope with without hay fever symptoms as well!
