Dry mouth is a huge problem when treating, and as Jill said, it can lead to dental problems. I drank a lot of sugar free sports drinks. No sugar to cause extra dental problems, but designed for thirst and syrupie enough to keep the mouth moist. Sucked on alot of Werthers sugar free hard caramel candies. Same thing, no sugar but coated my mouth very well and no acids to further irritate an already sensitive mouth. Other than that, you know the drill: lots and lots of water.

Hi Brendalee, the treatment drugs suppress the production of saliva and so unfortunately having a dry mouth is a common side effect. You`re doing all the right things for it already, really, as long as you`re drinking enough liquids. Make sure you take extra care with your teeth too while on tx, as without the normal levels of saliva you`re more at risk of cavities forming.
Just keep rinsing your mouth as often as you can with the mouthwash, and use mouth gel at night. Other people might have some more suggestions too.
Best of luck! ~ Jill

No matter how much water I drink, it doesnt help. My mouth is so dry. I been sucking on so many lemon drops, halls vit. C drops that my mouth got raw from it. I bourght biotene and ACT mouthwash for drymouth, that didnt help either. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I constantly wake up at night cause of it also. Not sure if my doctor can prescribe anything I see her in 2 weeks.
