Hi Huffy, MY VL test always seems to take 7 to 10 days to get the results. I know what you mean about discussing hep c with other people. Seems like every time I do it I wish I had not even mentioned it. When I do confide in someone about it and they ask "Well how in the world did you get that?" I really get upset at that type Of question. it just seems to trigger a feeling like I am being judged by them. that is why it is so comforting to be able to come here to talk about stuff that we all can understand Because we have all been through it. I hope you get your results soon. Take care.

Thank you everyone. My lab is also in the hospital. I go to a clinic for the uninsured so I'm at their mercy pretty much. A guy in the fellowship did the same thing and he has nothing negative to say about them and he got tx and all. I went to a meeting tonight and it really help me with remembering I need to work the steps with all my affairs.

Hi Huffy, all depends on who your doc is and what medical lab their using. My lab is in the actual hospital/clinic and I get my results in a matter of 1-2 days. Seeing all your responses lets me know this is not the usual way to go. I agree with Joanne - one day at a time, call the doc/np on Monday a.m. They may want to see you and talk to you in person about the results. Breathe in, breathe out - I understand about the sharing about it with folks - most folks won't understand. You will find a few that will - stick with those people. But than again, we have to share and let people know what's going on inside of us. I say if it's a matter of having a healthy recovery, share away, and never mind what other people think. One of the most freeing things I ever heard was "what other people think of me is none of my business".

Hi Huffy,
I was lucky as I could ring my Lab, see when a HCV VL run was being done, have the blood drawn in the morning and the Pathologist would ring me with the results by 5 pm. It only takes 3 hours for the test, once the Calibrations have been set up. I have been amazed how long you guys in the USA have to wait for results. Even non-Medico Private Patients get their results in a day or two in Australia.
It's another 'accept the things I cannot change'. Be patient.

If you create an account on Microsoft health vault you can make it to where you get your results there from say labcorp patient beacon..if you went to labcorp. There are others too. I get my results before the doctor calls me usually.

It usually takes a week or more for me to get a VL result from the labs I go to. I used to go to another but both have to send them somewhere else because they don't do that one in those labs.
JoAnneh is right. Certainly a lot of waiting involved with this treatment. Good to have someone to talk to. Reading and learning as much as you can about it helps. When I talk to someone on the phone about it the other line goes silent a lot. When I talk to them in person I see the eyes glaze over and I think to myself..."Time to talk about something else now" ;)

Nurschic- I haven't a clue! Thanks everyone for replying. I think I just needed to get out of my own head and I've noticed people who don't have hep c get uncomfortable when I talk about it too long. This is why I came here.

Thanks I like the idea of one day at a time. 1. I can't control it. 2. My HP can. 3. I'll step back and let him. I need to call my sponsor now!

You can call the lab, but they are not going to be able to tell you anything. They can only release the results once they release them to they physicians office and they are marked as looked at. SOmetimes labs only do test on certian days as well. What lab are you going to? I go to Labcorp and I can get my lab results online from their website about 10 days after they have been drawn.
I know it is hard to wait.... I will be climbing the walls next week after I get my 4 week labs with VL drawn.

Call your Sr/PN nurse Monday. Enjoy life and forget about it till Monday morning. This treatment has a lot of waiting involved. Focus on one day at a time. As Biggy mentioned, once treatment completed There is a 3 month wait to get tested to See if we are cleared of virus without Being on medicine. And that test can Easily take 2 weeks for it to return the results.

I know how you feel. I gotta wait 3 months now for VL test. I get my blood test at the hospital lab, then a couple days later i go to medical records in the hospital and get my results.

Friday has come and gone and still no phone call. I was told I'd have the test results by Friday. Aaahh! I'm trying really hard to be patient! I'm waiting on the results from my VL test so that's why this is so important. They said 2-3 days. The lab is open 24/7 so I didn't know if I could just call them or does it have to go through the Dr or NP who ordered it? I know they were testing for the other heps too so maybe all the tests that need to be done will make the wait longer. I think not knowing anything is making this last week drag by.
