Hi Caroline,
Congrats on the VL. My Doc did one on me this last week # 23 and they say there's another scheduled along with comp panel and thyroid next week which should be EOT. I don't know whats up. Hoping he's just making sure on the test. They send them off to CPL for the insurance and the clinic lab doesn't have the ability to do it. It takes them around a week to get the results back. I don't think the time frame is as important as knowing your UD at EOT.
Congrats again!

Hi Caroline,
Great news! I would try to get a 12 week VL as it's as good as the 24 week one, and it saves the misery of waiting. Hubby's results have been excellent, so you should be celebrating soon. Well done for finishing the long haul of 48 weeks- take some time to relax and recover. You both deserve it. Recovery time is variable- I didn't feel great until about 10 weeks post Rx. Cheers.

Hi there,
Our nurse informed us that my husband's VL test came back as undetected which is great news. His VL test was done 1.5 weeks after finishing treatment and we are seeing the specialist in about 9 days to discuss everything. We are going to see if we can get another VL test done at 12 weeks.
One question though - is this standard to have a VL test done 1.5 weeks after treatment? What timeframes have others had for VL test at EOT?

Great news indeed, Caroline, congrats to your hubby! Yes, it`s standard procedure to have an `end of treatment` viral load test done fairly soon after treatment has ended. I had mine done a week or so after I`d finished, and 1.5 weeks post tx is fine, he`s on track and it`s all looking good!
I would definitely see if you can get another viral load done at 12 weeks post, I would have thought that was fairly standard nowadays, especially as it`s becoming increasingly common for doctors to accept a 12 week UND result as equal to SVR. I know not everyone is automatically offered one but it would be much better if he could, 24 weeks is a long time to wait for results!
Thanks for updating us, you`ve done an amazing job seeing your hubby through his tx, congrats to you too!
