I am sorry to hear man for your sleeping disorder :( My mom is having some insomnia issues and she is taking Lexilium which helps her a lot. Have your tried any other alternatives? It's all pretty individual, i know some people who managed better (read longer) sleep hours with herbs (legal and illegal ones).
Rohypnol is pretty heavy and addictive. I heard, tho i am not assured about it, accupunture and meditation helps a bit.
all the best

agree, i am still defocused a lot, but until i finish with stressful days i can't say is it still post tx sx or just stress induced. Hopefully better days are ahead us!
Hows your recovery going? What stage your cirrhosis is at? Have you checked your liver post tx? Hope you get your liver back :)
Dubrovnik is still beautiful, but it's "besieged" with cruise ships lately ;( few days ago there were 6 of em in port and around city. Such a huge of hit n run tourists is taking a toll on the city transportation.

Hi Zlikster !
Sorry for your family problems, sounds really hard. You'r brave to care for your close ones.
I see you'r on the 8th week EOT like me Like you, I am expecting to feel "normal" soon. For me, it's not so much of my physical strengh I have lost, but more my mind one : to think and/or concentrate makes me feel tired.
Oh I would love to swim at Dubrovnick, it's such a beautiful place !
Take care,
Do

Cheers Alan & Bob :) how u guys doing?
@Malcolm, don't worry buddy i will find something to complain about in my blood pic! :D
have yoy seen recent BBC Horizon episode "Monitor me"? Check it on youtube. From 30m is interesting part when a (rich) computer geek gets into selfmonitoring biz (well as a reasearch too):
my aim is to have something like that one day! ;) full monitoring capabilities (ignoring my hepa's advice of over analysis) ;)
@Jill, seems as i/we get older we need more "repairs" :) hoping medicine will catch up with all the failures of our immune sys and pesky little invadors :)
i am now 2months post treatment. I feel much better (read fatter). Awaiting SVR12 :)
been under a lot of stress lately. My grandmother broke hip @ 94 years old, with severe paranoia, hysteria and psychoorganicum and i had to travel and organise operation, caretakers and now rehabilitation. Meanwhile my mom's flat was burglarized. I hope this much of cortisol influx to my body won't hit my immune sys as my hepa ordered me "no stress" while recovering.
Beside broken humerus thing (which hurts more n more), i feel good :) Still in Dubrovnik and going each day 17-19.30h to the beach (UV is not anymore high from 16h). Unfortunatley can't swim much cause of my arm pain :( so getting back muscles only on legs.

Like you, I do not know what problems comes from the treatment, and what comes from the stress. I had been Under Rohypnol (forbiden in the States) for years because of a "sleeping cure" after one of my friend had been killed. Doc gave me much too much sleeping medecine, then destroyed my own power to fall asleep by myself, this is why I had to take Rohypnol.
Then, last April, Roche said they will not produce Rohypnol after end of September 2013and asked docs to prepare their patients, as this drug is addictive.
However I was asked by docs not to change anything before end of hep. C treatment, and keep first month EOT (last July) free of stress. So July was really promising, my strengh was back, my happyness too (excepted the stress to become hep C positive again). But August has been horrible : bruises all over my arms and legs, my platelets went from 210 to 147, and of course very little sleep (about 2 to 3 hours), even thought I still was on half tablet of rohypnol.
My hepato asked me last Wenesday to take more Rohypnol tablets because I was getting so tired from no sleep. But only 4 more weeks to go and no more sleeping tablets, and ... my accupuncturist is in holidays !
So, right now, I'm not really feeling well, and no idea what is responsable for what, very probably both
Dubrownick full with tourists ? Oh I know how it must be, same here in Paris lol

Zlikster,
I have followed your ordeal for months, and I marvel at your accomplishments. Glad you are on the mend. It takes a while, but we do get better after the beatings we take. Now at last you are on the easy part of the curve. Concentrate on getting back to whatever you decide is normal. After treatment, we enjoy a bit of license where normal is concerned. We decide!

Hi Zlikster,
Good to hear you're on the mend buddy. Take it easy, and smell the roses. You're preparing for skiing, and I'm getting the boat ready for cruising during our summer.
I miss your posts complaining about your lack of neutrophils! Let us know when you get your 12 week Undet. Cheers.

Yes, I can understand why you`re getting impatient, Zlikster, especially as you`re waiting to have your operation, and it`s natural that you`re more than ready to pick up your life again now that your treatment is behind you. You`re well on the road to recovery though, and it will all happen for you in good time. I know it doesn`t come easy to you, but try and relax a bit!
I`m doing pretty well, thanks for asking! I still have some issues with my ME/CFS, but doing tx was literally life changing for me as I have so much more energy and stamina now. I didn`t realise it would make such a difference!
All the best, take care.

yeah i know it's too early for full recovery, but i am kinda in a rush to recover enough to go for pretty serious operation on badly jointed left humerus/upperarm. I don't wanna go to operation with anemia from Riba...but whats more bugging me i don't wanna miss ski season ;-D Might opt in for operation in spring.
how are you doing 2years post tx?

Hi Zlikster, you said it right, that`s definitely what we want!!
Good to hear from you again, we`ve missed you! Thanks for the update, I hope your family issues have been resolved now.
Sounds like you`re making a good recovery on the whole, and I`m sure you`ll continue to make progress over the coming weeks as far as energy and weight gain is concerned. It varies of course, but it can take 3 to 6 months to really get back on track and it`s still early days for you at 8 wks post tx.
All the best of luck with your 12 wks result, I`m sure you`ll be fine though!
Take care, onwards and upwards, and keep in touch!

Hi everyone!
sorry i couldn't post more before. i had some family issues and was mainly on the road.
I am now in 8th week post tx. Seems i have stabilized around 68kg and i hope to get to 73kg (my normal weight), but i still eat and enjoy food a lot. Seems like interferon was reducing my taste/smell senses a lot. I am a lot more careful around sun exposure, now that i have realized how dangerous Riba+UV is.
Overall i feel good. Some energy is back, tinnitus is still there but not prominent as it was after interferon shots. My joints pain is still high tho, when i get back from Dubrovnik i will do RA markers for sure.
I am still avoiding fatty foods, but more relaxed than while i was on tx. I never had a big sweet tooth, but now i am eating sweets (icecream and cookies mostly) a lot...when i gain my weight back i will be reasonable and reduce it :)
in 1month i will do my 12w EOT RNA test hoping for SVR12. Also, i will do ultrasound, full blood check and maybe FibroScan (if it becomes available as my hepa said in Sarajevo). I really want to see F0/A0 result :)
i wish to everybody in here a SVR4EVER and cheap noninterferon based drugs...
