I've looked over your previous posts. You must have had a Hepatologist when your husband did his unsuccessful 12 weeks of Peg and Riba back in 2006. Can't you go back to him? You also must have documentation regarding his previous tests and treatment. If you can't , go to a GP for a referral or go directly to a Hepatologist as Tig suggested. I also read your other post about ascites. As I said previously, ascites from HCV only occurs in decompensated cirrhosis. It sounds as though your husband is still drinking alcohol. If so, you won't find anyone who is prepared to treat him.
I understand your concern, but we can't help without some basic blood test results. Good luck.

Yes any general practitioner or internist can order those tests. But I find it very odd that you can't select a Hepatologist or Gastroenterologist of your choice to ask these same questions. If you are a US citizen, the requirement to get a referral to a specialist has all but been eliminated over the last two decades. Unless you have no choice but to start with a GP, I would seek the opinion of another liver specialist. They are far more knowledgeable about everything and may well save you several steps along the way. It had been over 10 years when I went through your same situation. So I feel the choice not to test your husband lies with the doctor you spoke to instead of any requirement. Good luck!

Any family Dr. or general practitioner should be able to help you. You might even be able to call your regular Dr and have them call in orders for the blood test.
