Thanks for the info but will the liver test tell how his liver is functioning and what else will he need to test for? His reg. doctor is going to run the test and if we need to see a specialist by the test results then he will refer us. I will take that over nothing its a start

Hi again sw,
You did previous posts where you were worried about yellow eyes and ascites. We explained yellow eyes were usually from jaundice, which means raised bilirubin. In your results, you would have received the Total Bilirubin level. This is done with LFT's and you gave the ALT and AST results. Can you look it up? Also ascites is a sign of liver failure. Your husband doesn't have liver failure, from those enzyme results. Try to give us the GGT along with the ALT and AST. Make sure you get and keep a copy of ALL blood tests for future reference. Your doctor is obliged to give you a copy, if you ask for it. We have a list of Abbreviations used on the Forum, in the New Members Section. Cheers.

Hi supportive wife,
The ALT and AST are normal. These can be normal despite liver damage, but I think you can forget about jaundice and ascites. Hubby has Chronic HepC. Let us know what the Hepatologist has to say. Cheers.

Got the labs back from doctor the results read ALT RHC 34U/L and the AST RHC read 27U/L is this what you go by to determine if there is liver damage? His doctor says there is no significant liver damage. This is what we got so far just from reg doctor so now we will go to the specialist to see if he needs to treat. Any comments will be approciated. The paper also says ACUTE HEPATITIS is that normal or if it is Chronic wouldnt it say that?
