thank you all. We are both excited. Tom's surgeon reports it willl be approved here in NYC NY in December by the FDA. He says he wants tom to continue his chemo for a year and then in Aug or Sept of next year, start the hep c therapy. He says all the kinks should be worked out with it. Dr ssaid this is a HUGE BREAKTHROUGH.......

Hi Laura,
It's great that you and Tom have some good news at last! By the time Tom finishes the Chemo., the Gilead combo Sofosbuvir and Ledipasvir may be approved, and Tom may need Riba as well. It would be great to clear the virus, and this will greatly decrease the chances of recurrence. Best wishes- there's light at the end of the tunnel! Cheers.

Hi all, It's me Laura. Took Tom back to Mt Sinai for his first three month liver scan. Great news, the chemo is working. There is NO sign of any growth in his liver. And to really make our day, his surgeon reports the new Hep C medication will be approved by the FDA in December. I told him I read that on this forum. Therefore, the plan for Tom is, that as long his next three CT scans come back clean, after a year on the oral chemo, he wants Tom to come off of it and go on the the new Hep C treatment....yippy. He said the trial results have been excellent and it is very important for Tom to beat his hep C as it will in turn, help to not have the liver cancer return. We are so estatic.
Again, we met a man who was waiting to see the same Dr as Tom. We started talking and he reported he was there for a three month follow up CT scan. We got to talking and he shared he beat his hep C using the triple therapy. He was on the therapy for 11 months of hell but it worked. It was my first time meeting someone in person who beat his virus. Really made my day as I know how difficult the treatment is. He also shared he has liver cancer and is being treated with TACE as his liver tumor could not be removed through re section as it is in the middle of his liver. I shared the info about joining this forum and maybe he will join...I never got his name, and I regret it. Anyway, wishing everyone great luck with the new treatment. Dr says it is one pill and very minimal side effects and EXCELLENT results. It is just like treating hep B. Things are starting to look bright for all!!! I will continue to lurk and see everyone's response to the new drug. Hopefully you will all be cured!! Best of luck.

Hi Laura, that is such wonderful news, you must have been overjoyed to hear this amazing result! Great to hear that Tom`s chemo treatment has been so successful already, I`m very happy for you both!
The new drug that is expected to be approved in December is called `Sofosbuvir`, and as Tom has been on incivek triple therapy already this will be the best treatment drug for him, definitely.
Things are certainly looking up for you both now, at last!!
