When I get constipated, I have what feels like liver pain or a GB attack. I pop some stool softners or laxitives and when the poop passed so does the URQ pain. Go figure. Michaele

I have aches and pains in the liver area, but then I have aches and pains elsewhere as well. As long as the labs are looking normal, there shouldn't be any worry.

Whenever i get a pain in my right side i automatically think it's my liver. I assume it's because of my liver disease and it's all in my head.
My mind does some weird things.

I too have pain on the right side. Thought it was the liver at first...pretty sure it is not. I have also had digestive related testing (gallbladder, ab ultrasound etc...) nothing much going on other than a small cyst near the portal...seem to have the most discomfort when I have eaten more than I should...I am with Malcolm...time to ignore it...and for me, eat small meals.

Hi tonib,
We have discussed liver pain before. Only the connective tissue of the liver capsule has pain-sensitive nerves. If the liver is swollen, or if some blood leaks under the capsule from trauma (such as liver biopsy), the capsule is stretched and may case true liver pain. Obviously, gallstones may cause pain from irritation of the capsule of the gallbladder, bile ducts etc. In chronic HepC, true liver pain should only occur in episodes of acute inflammation. Chronic HepC usually rumbles along, with occasional bursts of activity. In fact, most 'liver pain' is unrelated to the liver. Common causes are pulled or bruised abdominal wall muscles, R. lower rib injuries, gas distention of the colon, gastritis, R kidney pain etc. etc.. It is often hard to distinguish where the pain is coming from. Some patients worry so much about their liver, they can imagine pain. My advice- ignore it. Cheers.

I have had intermittent problems with that Toni and oddly I've been having the same trouble for the last few days. Doc says it's not uncommon and one thing to consider is the possibility of intestinal discomfort. Gas, constipation, diarrhea and diet can cause pain in various abdominal areas. I know there are days that I swear I need to wear a seat belt for fear I'll blast off! These meds have really messed up that once "regular" habit I used to have. Have you noticed any of those issues I mentioned? Hopefully it's just an irregularity and will let up soon.
