I decided to try an old stand by my family has used for years on everything from scrapes, rashes and chapped lips. I don't know why I didn't think of it right away! The stuff is called "Bag Balm". I've used it now for a few days and those sores and raw areas around my mouth are completely gone! I can actually open my mouth wide and without pain. If you're having trouble with this condition, I suggest you give this a try. You can get it in most pharmacies and online. A small tin will last you years! http://www.bagbalm.com/

Hi there!
I went to the NP and she set me up with an appt. with a dermatologist - in December!!! hahhaha.
It will be surely gone by then.
I have this tea tree oil cream I got during the Incivik stage and started using it 2 days ago. It already looks & feels 50% better.
She said I could even mix some Neosporin with it if I wanted. Nah- I'll just use the cream for now.
I'll still go to the derm doc though. I have some spots on my skin that came from the rashy Incivik portion of the treatment that haven't gone away.
Feeling better and better every day. I'm almost back to my cheerful self.

Yes I also suffered from it and it always seems to come back from time to time. It treats quickly if you stay on top of it all treatment. These nose problems seem to clear up after 3 months and never really came back like it was in the beginning. If that was all of the side effects I'm sure we'd all be happy.

Actually Kellie I had so many other bad side effects, this one was a relief. But i do have a mustache and goatee to cover it. Took about a week to go away i think.

that's funny tig, I didn't envision you with a beard and stashe.
my vanity seems to be taking a nap, cause' I wave my hands in the air and say "I don't care". I'm a scaggely beast too. Scary,
I went and tried on some wigs last Saturday to see if I could wear one..... hahahahahahaha.
I cried on the way home for about 2 minutes, then decided to surrender and embrace the beast look.
UBCgal and me are going as Gollum this Halloween. Of course, she'll be East Coast and I'll be West.
Thanks Do for the suggestion - I'll look for the GeloNasal. It sounds like it's got my kind of stuff in it. Have a fab day over there in France girl!

That's funny Kel! I've got a full beard and bushy mustache that does hide the corners of my mouth. Of course since being on treatment my hair thickness has diminished to about half. So what was once "Bushy" is now "Scraggly", lol! One other thing I've noticed is that my beard now grows in straight and flat against my face. It used to grow curly and bushy. It's a whole new look for me! xo

I hadn't heard of that term before you both mentioned it. I decided to Google it and low and behold there is a picture on Wikipedia of the blasted sore in the corner of my mouth! It has been bothering me for what seems like months! I've also got several raw areas in my nose that hurt. The inside of my nose reminds me of the Sahara Desert, dry and crunchy! I had no idea this was a condition related to treatment. I figured it was simply something to tolerate. I've got some magic mouthwash for the Thrush I had and some Chlorhexidine. I'll give it a try on my mouth, couldn't hurt anymore than it does. Good post, thanks!

I have a very dry nose too but doc says it's a HVC "Dry Symptom", and I had it before the treatment, together with dry mouth and ears
Some one here gave me the name of a medecine for dry mouth (Biotene), and I am using a nasal spray for dry nose which works quite well as long as you use your spray every few hours. Name is GeloSitin. It's made mainly from sesame oïl, orange and lemon "oïl" and the maker is German : G. Pohl-Boskamp Gmbh and Co. It seems one can find it in the States Under the name of GeloNasal.

Thank you! I'll be glad when it's gone. I was using a castor oil based jelly on it, but it didn't seem to clear up the dryness. I got suspicious after reading some posts about it here and finally confirmed it after looking at some pics. I'll mention the meds to my NP. Best!

Hi Kellie,
Angular cheilitis is common during HCV Rx. I had several doses and it's quite irritating. It's usually fungal, and rapidly subsided after a few days of clotrimazole (or any antifungal ) cream. Occasionally it is bacterial, and will need chlorhexidine or similar. The cream tastes dreadful but it clears it up. Cheers.

Well isn't this nice?
I was wondering what was going on around my month. Not on my lips, just the area around it and at the creases. It started about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was just dry irritated flaky skin, nope, I looked at some pics online of it. Now its tingling and red, as well as flaky. How attractive!
I have an appointment with my NP tomorrow. Yay, another rx!
