mallani,
Yes, you are right, I just look at some of these successful trials and it sounds so easy, its hard not to leap at the possibility of avoiding a 44 month bout with the ribo and interferon. And yes I am approved for it thru the VA, so I will continue on with this course unless God opens up another door and leads me to it. Just don't want to miss an obviously easier pathway. I have known all along it will be a tough process and I read over some of you guys stories and realize its going be harder than I ever imagined. Ha, I am just afraid as the brain fog kicks in I wouldn't see another opportunity if it was there. Will keep reading on here, and will post my results and info as it becomes available, and hopefully if any one sees me missing an opportunity they will bring it to my attention.

Hi John,
Obviously treatment decisions have to be made by you and your doctor. I assume VA have approved your 48 week course of Rx with the Boceprevir (Victrelis). It would be a brave man to say 'no thanks', and hope that the VA will approve Sofosbuvir some day. We don't even have costings yet, and the SVR figures for cirrhotics with Sofos/Peg/Riba are pretty sparce. We only have the extended Neutrino Trial results, as presented to the FDA. These gave SVR rates of 68% for the 12 week course. Gilead have been very reluctant to include cirrhotics, and presumably think patients will wait for the Sofos/Ledipasvir combination pill that does very well on the 'Lonestar' results. I really don't think there will be much initial interest in Sofosbuvir for Geno 1. IMHO, don't give Victrelis the flick unless you're certain the VA will approve a new treatment, with fairly ordinary SVR rates.
You could do the 4 week leadin with Peg/Riba and see if you get a 2 log drop in VL. If you do, your chances of SVR on the Victrelis triple go up to ~80%. Cheers.

Currently have stage 4 cirrhosis, and am on first week of triple therapy with boceprevir after initial start with ribo and interferon. Seeing how close the new drugs are would I would I be better off not starting bocep and waiting for sofosbuvir? Don't think a month or so would be critical but a year might be. Just dreading 44 weeks of ribo.
