What a wonderful Christmas present. As Jill said, by the time Tom's finished chemo, the Sovaldi/ Ledipasvir combo should be available. Merry Christmas to you both. Cheers.

Great news.....Tom's scan came out clean, clean, clean. This was the best present ever. We were thrilled to hear the news. He will continue on the oral chemo and the plan is after a year on the chemo treatment, he can start the new hep c treatment. His doctor feels pretty confident that he will be able to begin the treatment. There are people at the hospital who have started, and they are hoping by the time it is Tom's turn to begin, any issues would be addressed. He is also very happy to hear that the hep c has not been giving him any issues. Thank you all for your support and prayers. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday and a safe, healthy and hopefully hep c freee 2014. We go back March 20th for his next scan....positive thinking goes a long way. De Ranger, will be thinking of you on December 26th and pray your scan comes out clean as well. Merry Xmas to all!!!

Laura,
I just finished my blood tests in prep for the 18-month follow up ct-scan (Dec. 26th) for liver cancer surgery. Also just completed (Nov 29th) 48 weeks on triple therapy for HCV. Saw my HepDoc Monday and he said the new therapies are better and supposedly with fewer sides. I will be thinking of you and Tom tomorrow and sending all those lucky vibes. You have additional challenges with the cancer and the treatment, but you can do it. Looking forward to hearing the good news.

Hi Laura,
Good luck with the CT. You guys have been through enough. Hopefully Tom can wait for the Gilead combo, rather than go down the Interferon trail again. Best wishes. Cheers.

Hi Laura, you and Tom will most certainly have our prayers and positive thoughts tomorrow for his CT scan! The new drug therapies are very good and will hopefully be the ticket to Tom's SVR. Best of luck tomorrow and always!!

Hi Laura, good to hear from you again, and I wish you and Tom all the best luck in the world with his CT scan tomorrow.
Yes, that`s right, the new drug sofosbuvir (Sovaldi) has now been approved by the FDA. Has Tom`s doctors said whether he`ll be on Sovaldi + ribavirin with interferon or without? From what I`ve read it looks like Tom could possibly fall into the category of people with gen 1 who could be considered for a course of Sovaldi/riba without interferon, although it doesn`t seem exactly clear at this point.
Yes, we do now have one new member who has just started tx with Sovaldi (Larry2384), and he is gen 2. You`ll see his post in the New Members Area.
You`ll be in my thoughts tomorrow, and I hope with all my heart that the cancer hasn`t returned. Sending hugs. xx

Hi all, Tom and I go back to Mt Sinai tomorrow for his second liver CT scan (6 mos). Keep us in your prayers that the cancer hasn't returned. Heard the new treatment for hep c has been approved. If all goes well for Tom, the doctors want him to stop chemo and try to beat his hep c using the new treatment. Has anyone on the forum started the treatment or know anyone who has? Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and safe holiday and new year. Wishing you all a hep C future for you or your loved ones....
