I agree but why not get this over with, they should have had you sign something legally binding for testing you before tx. Why should your insurance company pay, so many wish their coverage would, they would do anything. You sound exactly like someone who should not be on tx. That may sound harsh but hey thats the way it was put to me by hospital and my doctors.

If your using during treatment with these highly potent HCV meds the problem is much worse than a little anxiety or I'll never do it again. I know you're young but damn. Check into rehab and take it seriously. Otherwise stop your meds and party on but don't do both.

Wise words from Duane and others there (thanks). You came to us for advice and please feel welcome here any time, we`re all on your side and want you to live a long and happy virus-free life. Yes, you made a mistake and of course you know that already, and many of us on this forum are only here because of stupid mistakes and bad choices we made when we were young...and I include myself in that...so we speak from experience.
You may or may not have been reinfected and as Malcolm said, the best thing to do is to get a viral load and genotype test done and time will tell.

Trudge everyone makes mistakes, and that is what life is, a series of them that in time create a library in your mind of what not to do, which in the later years becomes known as wisdom.
I have kids your age and older that really makes and me think of your situation..and my conclusion is this, Mary is correct... the world most certainly is a better place with you in it and you should believe that too.
Nobody here really knows how or why you got to the place you are today, and that's not important, I'm proud of you for having the courage to seek advice NOW even knowing that some would be insensitive and take shots at a kid that stumbled picked himself up and sought advice.
Thank you Malcom for responding to trudge just like a Dr...... Factually without judgement, I wonder how many are here because of those same weaknesses that trudge had, but now they are wise because it took many years to realize the consequences.
Trudge you are very young yet ....you will overcome this, do not dwell on this error, be strong, seek support from those that really care about you, and if your inclined to as I often am....pray! It does wonders.

Well, it is certainly not the brightest move you've made. Your roommates father is certainly a piece of work. Using and sharing drugs with someone who is young enough to be your child and on treatment---What can you expect ??? He is a practicing junkie. Get away from that situation immediately. It is far too easy to slip back into addiction. It is not the connection that leads us back into addiction. It is generally family and old friends--sharing their "medicine" with you. And you are/were a recovering junkie.
Get back in touch with whoever helped you get clean and find another place to live. The temptation is obviously too strong for you where you are. Your roommates father will be back with his drugs.
as for the Hep c--you will just have to finish your treatment and keep checking to see if you got re-infected. I do wish you the best. Life after treatment is good, but life without drugs is fantastic, but it ain't always easy.

You must get away, and stay away, from people who do this stuff. If that means cutting ties to all your friends then so be it. You'll make new friends that aren't killing themselves and you. There is nothing wrong with telling a junky to get the #$@ out of your house as soon as you find out. Your life is more important than being polite. You can't afford not to be a nazi about this kind of thing. I speak from experience. I got away from these people when I was 16 and never looked back. All the comments like "dude you suck" were answered with my middle finger. Had I not left those people behind there is no way I'd be alive today. Unfortunately my stupid behavior before I smartened up had consequences I'm still living with over 25 years later. I hope you're able to do the same before it's too late. If not HCV is only one of *many* problems you will have.

I've been where you are and I can tell you that you can't escape the bad choices you make you can't escape your past in life. That anxiety thing was an excuse you just wanted a taste and it was there. I'm not gonna be easy on you. You should have walked out the door until he was done. You know your on treatment if for some reason they look at your blood work and find drugs they will pull you off treatment. Why should they help you if you won't help your self. No excuse I've been there.

I feel impelled to warn you off your possible future if you do not make some changes very fast.
My sister died at the age of 42 even after coming clean from drugs, giving life a new chance. Why, because a heart valve became infected and damage occurred due to drug abuse, it was never found and she died in hospital. Do you really think that how you are choosing to live is really the way forward? I know I should be giving you sympathy for a stupid mistake, but actually I feel angry at you. You are 22 years of age, you have not even lived yet and you were given a chance to start afresh. Now you are faced with the possibility you are re-infected and used whilst on treatment, wake up and stop thinking you are invincible!
I hope that you were lucky and this time you got off with just worry and the needle you used was clean, but please, stop kidding about with your life, stay away from people that brings you into temptation! I have seen first hand the devastation drugs can bring, start loving yourself!
I know you are beating yourself up now, but you need to start taking this seriously, you will cause severe liver damage using with Hep C, you know the risks, and believe me its not worth it. Do you want to die young over a high that lasts a few hours? My sister regretted every moment and still died because it was too late!
Rant over, be safe, look after your liver and get healthy whilst you have the chance.

I just read it can take 6 months before it might show up in the blood. So, it is possible you could still be UND but carrying the virus, and as Mallani noted, it could even be a different genotype. Not good news. Sorry.

I presume you're on Peginterferon and Ribavirin. You may be infected with a new Genotype.
Get your VL checked, with a new Genotype test.

If you only have 5 weeks left, and you were UND then became reinfected, you would be starting over with only a 5 week tx course. Your VL would presumably be lower to start with the 2nd time but 5 weeks is not very long for any tx (and we don't even know what tx you are on). Your odds of SVR would be decreased, perhaps substantially.
It usually takes a week or two before the virus would show up in your blood tests.
There is simply no way to predict the effect this will have. Hang in there and hope for the best.
P.S. I would ask doc for a VL check in 2-3 weeks. If the worst happens perhaps he/she can find a way to extend your tx.

Ok, so this is complicated but, I am in week 19 treatment for hep c genotype 3. The third blood results came back negative, still have the 5 more weeks to go. Last week my roommates father moved here from nova scotia, and i had no idea he was a junky, one night i had extreme anxiety and he was using infront of me nd i did with him. All the syringes were new, but i think he mixed them and used the same bowl. he is hep c positive (and not getting treatment) only did 4 hits that night, but still makes me worrried. what do you guys thinkÉÉ :( im 22 and so disapointed in myself, was former university student till all this bad stuff started happning
