Getting insurance to pay for 24 weeks will not be easy on any combo and I would not expect that to change for some time.  Gilead appears to be promoting 8 weeks or 12 weeks.  Hey, relapsers make for repeat customers.  :)

The link that Malcolm gave has the 24 week data that you are looking for. I hope you do extend to 24 weeks because all study results using Sovaldi with another DAA have had nearly 100% cure rate. The hurdle will be getting the insurance to go along with your and your doctors wishes. My doctor didn't even want to try for 24 weeks he said " wow that would be more than a quarter million dollars I don't think their going to approve that"  but that was way back in March maybe thing have change now. I hope to get 24 weeks in Oct with Gilead's new combo.

The Cosmos results are confusing. Try to decipher this:

Looking at Cohort 1 results, the comment is 'all patients treated for 24 weeks were cured'.  Then, speaking about S/O with and without Ribavirin for 24 weeks , 'SVR rates were 93% and 79% respectively'.

Also, F2 is regarded as 'moderate fibrosis'. Good luck with your interpretation!

Mallani, I am Geno 1a and test negative for the Q80K. Probably around f2-f3

I had heard somewhere else that the SVR rate was 100% for all genos' 1a for 24 weeks. That was the data was I was hoping to find. Searching on Google is not finding differences between 12 or 24 weeks, etc.

I have no idea about my IL28B status. Is there a test that can find it?

I did become clear at 6 weeks on this tx.

 I would like to add to this, With this combo going away, by you taking it, instead of the new Tx gives you an advantage by leaving you treatment naive for the better treatment should you ever relapse. Taking the better treatment now leaves you not knowing 'because it is so new' if relapse issues ever arise. Re treatment with the same combo my not be possible.

What is your liver damage staged at?  It really helps to provide your specific info in the sig line.  You will get more specific responses that way.

well the thing is 24 weeks is for genotype 3 , what genotype are you.  The S/O combo has had some relapse issues recently and seems to have a mutation Q something or other, that is showing resistance to the S/O.  The S/L combo is having better results.  As for the data Just about any thing on Hep c and like virus is on this forum , you can use the search tool ,blue border top centre, to help you find what you need.

I was hoping someone may have some research data they have read or seen that shows that 24 weeks on the Sovaldi/Olysio had higher SRV24 rates than the 12 week protocol.

My doctor has agreed to extend my tx up to the 24 weeks, but he said we would have a hard time convincing my insurance company. 

I have good reason for extending the treatment, that being I was on similar drugs in a trial study back in 2012 and had a viral breakthrough. And on this current Sovaldi/Olysio treatment I didn't clear until the 6-8 weeks. My doctor did say my odds would be better if I was able to stay on the medications longer.

So once again, if anyone has a link or any data that may suggest that the longer treatment period would be beneficial, I'd love to know about it.
