Great that you`ll be able to start your IVF treatment so soon at last! It must be very exciting for you, but I can also understand your concerns about the possibility of transmitting HCV to your baby, and that`s not an easy question to answer!
The odds are certainly in your favour for giving birth to a healthy child but there is a definite risk, even though statistically it`s very low. On the other hand, another thing to consider is that possibly this could be your only chance to conceive and give birth, and I know how important that is to you.
I had both my children before I knew I had Hep C and when I had them tested they were both clear of the virus, but I realise that in your position it`s not at all an easy thing to weigh up.
Those are just my initial thoughts, and I wish you all the best of luck!

Thank you folks :D
To up-date, I have been given the go ahead, I start 18th December. I am excited, relieved and also worried. I would love to hear from anyone that was concieved and infected via vertical transmission. I had to think hard to proceed as now since treatment I have a very high viral load. They have put transmission risk at 5-10% with most cases of mother to child cases self resolving at 30%. I'm not sure how I would feel if I had a live birth and my baby was infected. I would like to know how it has affected people. My chances of a live birth is also a consideration, but I like to think positive.
PS: All panels remain good, just a slight elevation in white blood cells.
Many thanks,
L

Hi Lisa, I was wondering how you were doing and this is such good news! How wonderful that you now have fresh hope of a chance for IVF, you must be so relieved and excited!! Having such a good and thoughtful doctor can make all the difference in the world.
Wishing you all the very best of luck with this, and I do hope a more suitable tx will become available to you and others in the Netherlands before too long.
Do keep in touch!! Jill x

Hi Lisa, I remember you. Sorry to hear you failed treatment, but I bet there's a magic bullet coming soon with your name on it. That's great of your doctor! Talk about going above and beyond! I work in a hospital now, and the long hours I see some of them put in and their dedication is touching to see. I hope it works out for you, and you can someday have the baby you want.

Hi guys,
It's been a while since my last post. I had lost all hope for I.VF as some of you know I failed TX this year and the drugs are available in the Netherlands but the insurance companies are playing the delaying game with the high price - so no one can access them yet. I have been trying to get on trails, asked to go back on the old TX - first two weeks I was neutropenic and anemic, and my Doctor doesn't want me back on it.
OK this is standard things. BUT.........my doctor who owes me nothing researched why I can't have I.V.F, had a meeting with a microbiologist etc. The issue is only the freezing aspect of the zygotes. Since I am already 40 it is highly unlikely there will be much to freeze as from one batch there are statiscally 1-2 viable eggs. Armed with her knowedge she arranged a meeting with my GYNO and Microbiologist all together to work out me having I.V.F still infected.
I have never been so touched in my life and when I got home I cried like a baby! I will hear soon what is going to happen and hopefully this will change things for future couples waiting for I.V.F that are more mature if they have Hep C. I have to say my Dr. is an amazing person that has touched me deeply with her kindness and concern not just for my liver, but for my want to have a child. I just wanted to share this amazing news and how some Doctors are just totally amazing.
