Hello Bashar,
I`ve just had a look at your wife`s results and I agree with everything that Tig said. The most important piece of information there is the bit that says `HCV-Hepatitis C Viral Load (Quantitive)..Target Not Detected`
So your wife does not have Hep C, what excellent news for you both!! Now you have something else to celebrate...I`m very pleased things have turned out so well for you!!

Hello Bashar,
I had to read the results several times and I see a few different pieces of information. First and biggest is that the PCR report indicates there is no detectable HCV virus. That's great news!! She does not have an active HCV infection, yeah! She does show positive antibodies for HCV, this tells me that at some time in her life, she was exposed to the virus but her own immune system was able to fight the virus off by itself. People that test positive for HCV antibodies will test positive for the rest of their life and is nothing to worry about. Only 20-30% of the people exposed to HCV are able to fight off the virus in this manner! She's very fortunate to have beaten the virus like this!
She tested 19 on the ALT blood test, this is a liver enzyme test, when elevated it can indicate liver disease or damage. Her test is normal, no indication of problems.
I see no problems Bashar! No detectable Hepatitis C, and a normal liver enzyme (ALT). This is great news! Along with the good biopsy report earlier this week, she has been very fortunate! I wish you continued good luck!

Mallani was referring to the benign biopsy results from your wife's breast lump. The fibroadenoma was benign, so no further cancer fear is warranted. The tests you listed on your last post are the diagnostic blood tests associated with HCV. Also looks like she had an abdominal ultrasound that showed no abnormalities (normal). That's excellent news! Next is to have the HCV blood tests completed. Good luck!

She will need treatment if a viral load is detected. The good news is Harvoni should be available much cheaper in Bangladash. It's supposed to go for about $10 a pill in India, and it's $1,000 in the US.

Dear mallani
It is such a relief at this stage.......... You mean no further treatment...for what? is it for the lump or Hep C? Are these following test for Viral Load?
HCV Genotyping
HCV RNA Quantitative (RTPCR)
HCV lgG Antibody
ALT (SGPT)
And FYI Ultrasonogram for hepatobiliary system & pancreas result also came normal.
Thanks a lot for your support.
Thanks Cinnamon Girl & LC. We feel lucky enough having well wishers like you.

Hi Bashar,
Great news! Just a fibroadenoma, a benign breast tumour. No cancer, and no further treatment is required.
When your wife's recovered, get the VL test just to make sure.
Always good to hear good news! Cheers.

Dear All
I am so grateful to all of you that you put your valuable opinion here. It may not the stage to worry too much but I can't.
I can understand a very little from other post around. I am sharing the biopsy report for your consideration. We will meet the surgeon to show the report tomorrow.
We are assuming the 'lumpectomy' was for your wife's breast mass. If the surgeon just did a lumpectomy, he must have been convinced it was not a serious tumour. I assume he would have checked the lymph nodes in the axilla (armpit) as well. This is all that's important right now. I hope the Pathology report is OK.
When all that is sorted out, the HCV VL test can be done. Your treatment options in Bangadesh are a different subject, and we can discuss that with you later (if your wife has chronic HCV). Best of luck.

As several people here have already stated, try not to worry about the hep. If your wife does need treatment, there are newer meds with very high success rates. But first more tests are needed. She may not need any treatment depending on if it is chronic or not. As for the lump, I have no idea. The Hep is not a death sentence. Look around the different posts on this forum which may answer many questions or just ask. We are here to support and help one another.

Hello Bashar,
We are all hoping for the best news for you and your wife. I am praying for you both. Please let us know when you hear anything. I hope your wife is resting comfortably following the lumpectomy (surgery). Give her our best wishes for a fast recovery.
If and when you have any laboratory reports regarding your wife's HCV status, you can share them with us here and we will do our best to provide informed opinions. There are many circumstances involved in making these decisions. I'm not sure what options are available in Bangladesh, but we'll help you understand the decisions and options you are provided by her doctor. Keep your spirits up and try to stay positive. You are among friends here! Good luck...

I meant if she has Hepatitis C, that can usually be treated faster these days with an all oral regime. As to the lump I can't say of course. Hopefully it's fluid buildup or something minor.

Hi mallani,
Thanks for your reply. Yes , you are right about the sample & cutoff rate (attach report image FYI).
We met the prof. at 30th Oct and he gave the following test:
Ultrasonogram for hepatobiliary system & pancreas.
& blood test for
hepatitis panel-2
HCV Genotyping
HCV RNA Quantitative (RTPCR)
HCV lgG Antibody
ALT (SGPT)
We give the blood samples and have to wait for 12 days for the result ( though sample will diagnosis in Dilli, India).
We highly desire your opinion.
Thanks again.

We need more information. The antibody tests are complex, and vary depending on the type of assay. I think you are referring to the Signal/Cutoff ratio (SCo) which can be 1.00. It seems your wife may have a SCo of 2.69%.
Is it possible to scan and post the report, then we can be of more help. These are EIA assays, or may be CIA.
If you're worried, the doctor will do a PCR test to check the Viral Load.
