I suppose it is so very impolite to hi-jack a thread with the doldrums of child rearing... but - OKAY I'll take my hi-jack ticket and run away with poor Michaele's post to say that I actually thought I'd lose my very tidy composer on many occasions dealing with my 'raisin' son(funny story for a different time)....
So anywho since I'm wandering around with too much time on my hands ~ had a brilliant thought ~ I'll give some inspiration after boys grow a brain at 24 y/o (true fact) and you can.... CHILlax with your own sanity left in tact. Perhaps we could make a thread for ranting about the off-spring of our lives.
I'm sorry if my froggy looks a little to calm - believe me - we paid my dues

All I ask of my 18 1/2 year old son in exchange for free room and board, is 10-15 minutes a day taking out the garbage and emptying and refilling the dishwasher. I explained to him that I was going on treatment and needed more help. I do all the laundry, shopping, cooking and cleaning. Apparently that was "too much" for him. Rather than continue to rant at him everyday, I told him to take his butt over his to dad's until he has a change of heart because I'm not going to keep stressing out on his laziness every day. It hurt my feelings too, that he wasn't more considerate.
He was back after 3 nights, the extra bed at daddy's house wasn't comfortable, and dad wanted grocery money. His dad got an overdue visit in. I told him I'm just going to fine him $5 a day when his part isn't done. If money motivates him to work rather than my nagging, I'll go with that.
I love my kids to death, but they really aggravate me sometimes. My oldest is totally showing signs of some maturity at 23 so I am a bit encouraged.

Hey LC, Id rather travel to Duke, but getting up and back can be problematic. Have to give my daughter a notice far in advance or work around her schedule...... And kids are wonderful from ages 1/potty trained. until about 12. Then it all starts going south. My kids got worse with age. Now that they are all legally adults, they are brats, they were great children. Guess the fear of mom can do that. Michaele

Aren't children just wonderful sometimes? I got fed up with griping at my youngest son for not helping around the house, and sent him to stay with his dad for a few days. Most kids are completely selfish and thoughtless until they grow up a bit, at least that's been my experience.
Glad to hear you aren't wanting the local teaching hospital to do your surgery if needed. I live in the country (which I like for the most part) there is a town close by but it's not a major metro area, so I drive 2 and 1/2 hours to St Louis for the trial.

Hey Tig thanks, I told the piggies to keep the pumpkin outside but they didnt listen. So Son is going to have to find another place to live. I was a little upset that ECU made that referral to the surgical ca dept. I called my GI, who sent me to DUKE for the 1st biopsy few yrs back. Hopefully they will call me back and say we will send u to DUKE again. ECU is 4 mins away, DUKE is over an hr. Dont know if my children have time to drive me up and back to Duke. Need a driver with a biopsy. Right now, Im more upset about the chair, which I scrapped off and have air drying out in the sun. I just couldnt wait for them to get off work and out of class. But the slop is laying on the patio bricks for them to hose down or shovel up. Just think, these kids are our/ Americas future. Michaele

Oh Michaele, I'm so sorry to hear you're having what sounds like the perfect storm of a day. Good grief, you've had enough BS recently and I think we'll all get together and demand things improve immediately! Lots of prayers and good vibes are sent your way my friend!
Will the same group of physicians be handling the upcoming tests? Is there another facility that you can request a second opinion from or a different gastroenterologist? It helps to discuss it with a different individual, even if they belong to the same group. I know you won't stand still and will stay on top of it. Please keep us in the loop. We want to help, I think you know that!
As far as your family and their pumpkin problem, I hope they know they have a mess to clean up and some repairs that need attending to! What a nasty thing to find, especially after last year! I'm sorry, but It has to be said, I hope they know they won't be bringing any more pumpkins into the house!! Not unless they want to wear them, lol!
Good luck and do keep us informed...

Hi , And now for the cherry on the psycho sundae , drum roll please. The cyst on my pancrea has grown and is now being referred to as a pancreatic mass. Going to referral on the 11th: review ultrasound to see if I need a biopsy again. And also going back to the GI on the12th. I got sort of pissed and asked the dr, why ECU doesnt have a real hepatologist. Was told, " well, that takes money and we are only a teaching research hospital and school." They havent had a real hepato in 10yrs. And I just got used to the idea that I wasnt going to get Harvoni, now this BS. Oh what ever. And on top of this my son and his girl friend left a carved pumpkin on an antique dining doom chair where it proceeded to rot and melt and turn to fuzzy black mold. Dripped on oriential rug and hard wood floor where it ate the finish . We dont frequent that part of the house often. Last yr they did the same thing but left it on a PC stand next to a desk top pc. Thanks for listening and have a nice day.....Michaele
