Hello everyone... It's been a while since I've signed in there's so many new faces. Very glad to see others have found this place.
Yesterday was exactly 9 months since I started treatment and last Thursday was exactly 6 months since I ended treatment. So of course I was at the lab that day getting blood drawn. Doc called today...
UNDETECTABLE AT 24 WEEKS POST!!! and 8 months since my first UND result! He said he'll see me in May for my 1 year post check-up and he'll have me get my 1 year labs the week before I see him!
It's getting cool here in the Carolinas and the leaves are certainly beautiful. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and Thanksgiving is my all time favorite holiday. This year I have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for my career which afforded me the insurance coverage that linked me with such amazing doctors and nurses as the Liver Transplant Center. I'm thankful I was approved for Sovaldi just before Express Scripts started to deny in droves. I'm thankful for the people at the Transplant center's pharmacy that fought Express Scripts tooth and nail for me. I am SO thankful to all of you people who were right by my side throughout this journey and who shared not only in my good and bad times but allowed me to share in yours. I am thankful for my new house which I've been in about 6 months now (some may recall I closed on my house 3 days after treatment ended). And I am so thankful for my future.
I remember being a scared 13 year old kid in 1996 and hearing the doctor tell my mom there will never be a cure and this will likely kill me in 20-30 years. That scared kid never, EVER, thought this day would come.
I thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. I remind you all to stay determined; whether that's trying a new treatment or fighting your insurance companies for the right to live a better life! Keep your heads up - you are all warriors. I wish you all (in the states and Canada, a Very Happy Thanksgiving and I wish you all, Safe and Happy Holidays!
Happy Thanksgiving.
