Especially if that money was coming out of pocket. Or that's what you had to do to ensure your maximum chance of reaching SVR.

I don't know about the meds you are on but I believe the Harvoni label reads that if you barf it up within 5 hours you need to take a second pill.
I wonder how hard it would be to get a Harvoni pill replaced at $1,125. per pill?
They would probably tell you to go ahead and put it back where it came from for that kind of money. Ok, that's pretty gross, even for me...

You know what was disgusting though? One night, 4 hours after I took my meds, I was coughing so hard I actually got sick. Hopefully that dose was absorbed by then.

I wished! Insomnia on top of the cold. Or maybe I couldn't sleep because of the scratchy throat and coughing? I would lay down and try and it seemed like that is when I would be coughing the worst. It seemed like nothing was helping, but I am feeling almost back to normal now.

So sorry to hear you are still sick LC. Glad to hear you have taken a few days off to try and feel better. I have pretty much fought allergies (sneezing, coughing, etc) the whole treatment and just didn't take anything. I go through this every year when fall gets into full swing and we start using the pellet stove. Luckily I haven't come down with anything major like you ran in to. One of the advantages of being retired and not having little ones at home is not having to come in contact with other sick people as much. You should be almost 2/3 done with this thing. You can do it.
If your study group approved your OTC drugs then you should be good and have no worries.

LC, I've been sick this week as well. Took off work two days, not wanting to "spread it around". I emailed my doc and confirmed it was OK to take Mucinex and different OTC cough meds. I take the Harvoni when first getting up and wait at least 6 hours before taking any other med (as few as possible). If you read the prescribing label for Harvoni is says if you miss a dose and it's within 18 hours of usual tx time to take the pill. If you're missed and are within 6 hours of normal dosing time to wait until normal tx time to take the med. This may not correlate to anything, just a thought. I would not take any kind of med without contacting my doc. While they can't say with certainty whether something will affect the Harvoni, it is good to follow protocol. When in doubt, ask the doc. Let us know what your doc prescribes. Thanks

Most of the people I work with are sick right now. I guess nobody believes in staying home when they've got a cold. Only I seem to be a lot sicker than everybody else is.

Hi LC:
Are you sure you are not just experiencing side effects? The reason I ask is that you might not need to use OTC cold medications if these are just side effects of the tx. Ritonavir side effects include flu/cold like symptoms for many people.
I don't think there is any data on how a cold or OTC meds could impact SVR but I wouldn't use OTC meds unless absolutely necessary.

Does getting a cold during treatment reduce your chances of reaching SVR? I've gotten all my OTC meds approved.
